The writers fucked up Twilight's ascension to alicornhood. I think most people admit this. But we've had three full seasons to see how the show portrays Twilicorn. Why is it shocking to you that people like her as a princess now when one of the major complaints about her becoming an alicorn is the fact that it was rushed and didn't have proper build up?

As for EQG, the first one was pretty bad. Again, I think most people will admit this. The other movies are so ridiculous that I can't help but enjoy them.

They did fuck it up big time and that is undeniably a big loss. It was such a trainwreck for the entire show it took an entire season for them to even pick up the direction again. I can see how some people are still cautious if they dropped the show back then. I mean I myself dropped it, I couldn't deal, dropped out of the ride for two years. But I got back, I wanted to see how they dealt with it and I thought it wasn't that bad.
It's as you said, it's not that she got wings, it's how they used it since then. People say that it doesn't get better with time but I disagree, in this case it does change with time, how they use Twilight now and still progress her character. It's not always perfect but she didn't die there. Some people didn't get over it but I'm glad I did. Otherwise I would miss out on a lot of episodes I absolutely loved. And also watching Larson's interview at that time cleared things up a lot for me.
