During season 6 I felt that a lot of times, even in episodes where Glimmer didn't even appear, the other ponies were written much stupider than usual. I do believe that it was intentional, and I do believe that it was an attempt to make Glimmer more likeable. Something like, if we can't make her better, we'll make the other ponies worse. It's the worst way to introduce a new character.

Memes aside, some people call her "Poochie" because she's supposed to be the best character and everyone is supposed to like her. It feels so forced that it makes the show barely enjoyable for people who care more about the existing characters than about keeping the show alive forever. Funnily enough, when I've asked some Glimmerfags why they like her, some of them admitted that she was better written than the other characters. I think that it's outrageous.

At least All Bottled Up was an interesting change for the better. The Mane 6 were only side characters again, but at least they weren't completely stupid this time.
