Yeah, I'll see the movie in theaters. For the next season, my hopes are pretty general, aside form a desperate prayer that one of the new writers establishes themselves as the new MVP of the staff. I'd like some more Tree Hugger, an ep with Starlight hanging out with a mane 6 other than Twilight, an ep using Diamond Tiara post-reformation, and I'd honestly like another slice of life finale after all this time, though just before the movie probably wouldn't be the best time for one, so maybe that should wait for S8.

The comics are well established to not be canon.
The EQG movies have also been established as not part of the show's continuity.
The only things that are considered canon to the show is the show itself and the GM Berrow/AKR novels.
That being said as a person who owns all of it, I'm wondering if the movie will be treated as part of the show continuity or not. With the character designs, I'm hoping no. I will be seeing it opening day.
My hopes for S7 is that they continue to build on and revisit the world that we've seen so far.

Reviewing the writers for the S6 episodes, Michael Vogel pops up on a lot of great episodes. Meghan McCarthy is still pretty solid. The Fox brothers wrote many of the bad/lackluster episodes.

The EG movies are the official post S3 continuity. It's S4 onwards that isn't canon, it's jewish fanfiction. The show was supposed to end on MMC and then continue on EG, but ponyshit turned out to be so profitable that Kikebro allowed it to continue as an alternate continuity so they could keep taking your money.

That's why the good writers all left and why Hasjew gives freedom to the shit replacements. It doesn't fucking matter. EqG has no effect on the show and neither do the comics, so those can be ignored I think. I've seen all the pony, read every Berrow book and comic, and have seen the EqGs too, but I think it's not necessary to go through all that to participate.

I'm hoping the season doesn't suck. More than anything I want it to be good enough that the board can go through another phase like we had for S5 where the optimism in the show was restored again, but I'll settle for it being good enough that I enjoy it.
