My point is, if you read the conversation again, that the definition of pony-related music is so loose literally anything can be counted as pony music as long as author marks it as such. That means that the line between artists and parasites is too thin to even be seen. You cannot distinguish people who actually take inspiration from MLP and trendhoppers looking for quick fame. Artistic integrity is out of question here because basically anything with pony brand in it will be listened to and loved. You can write anything and slap a pony name on it and people will eat it up, and there will be no way of telling if you actually care.
Incorporate show's themes, BGM, songs, write lyrics that actually involve the subject, use voice sampling. It will be instantly recognised as something related to the show. But you can't honestly tell me that some completely random song is pony-related just because the guy says it is and you found it knowing that it should be pony-related.

He is, but he rarely made actual pony music. That was more of an authentic DJ-Pon3 roleplay than anything. In which case it'd make sense to not be directly referencing the show I guess, as an actual Vinyl would be busy making EDM in this case not praise the show.

He's worth a mention but I'm not surprised he'd slip through peoples fingers as a brony musician. His music is good to listen to on its own merits, where I'd usually only listen to pony music for the same reason I have pony wallpapers. Something that simple titles and super subtle lyrics doesn't fill.

RIP DJ-Pon3 as the artist name btw.
