Discovery Family is in the danger zone with a high cost per viewer and low viewership. By point of comparison, Cartoon Network is very well positioned; Disney is a bit bigger than CN but has much higher costs; and Disney XD is also in the danger zone.
So, bets on who gets Pony when Discovery pulls the plug on its Family network?

Disney, they want it all.
>>29717767
Disney and this will finally destroy the fandom
>>29717767
>paying for cable
Hahaha, Like Nigga, What?

My friend, it will only lay in wait...slumbering until the next gen gets released by a new studio...many years from now....Brrrrrrppppppttt

it's because Discovery Family frequently gives off the "this is a learning channel" vibe. No fucking kid wants to learn anything anymore, they never did, and probably never will. Considering the vast increase in ADHD kids out there, there's no way in hell they'd watch half the shows on that network.
It's gonna fail, and MLP will probably be picked up by anything but Disney. There's no way in hell Hasbro would work with them, considering they're some sort of adversary when it comes to toys and marketing.
I'm gonna bet on Nickelodeon.

Hasbro and Disney have a strong working relationship as Hasbro produces toys for Disney's Marvel, Star Wars, and the lucrative Disney Princesses (which Hasbro ripped away from Mattel only a couple of years ago).

I was not aware of that

I'm glad I watch all ep's online
>>29717888
Hasbro's primary enemy is Mattel.

Hasbro's actually been so successful that they're hawking toys for both Disney and Dreamworks at the same time. They are by far the largest toy company out there.
The complication is I'm not sure how their relationship would operate in reverse. Disney usually sticks to broadcasting its own IP and farms out contracts for the merch (as far as I can tell); here we're dealing with the idea of Disney airing what is essentially 20+ minute ads for another company's IP.
>>29717819
Dude, you underestimate Disney, they would close both EQD and derpibooru if they got the show
inb4 But that is actually good XD
>>29718012
How and why would they do that? Have they shut down any other sites that post news or porn of their IPs?
>>29717888
>I'm gonna bet on Nickelodeon.
How would this affect the show?(in ratings)
The Loud House, Fairy odd parenst and spongefag and shows that take the good tier time slots would be a greatest threat to the rating of the show.
>>29718045
that's the main issue. if any other main network takes MLP, it will have to compete with the other shows that are, as of now, heavily marketed, and god knows they don't care about anything else other than their best sellers and most viewed
>>29717821
damn CN is actually doing pretty good.
Must be all the Steven Universe fags.
Hasbro has talked about in investor meetings what they want from the network. They strongly implied it only exists because foreign networks that want to buy syndication rights traditionally require that the show has a "home" network. It is changing with Netflix, so who knows what may happen in the future.
DFC exists to Hasbro can sell the show to foreign networks at this point.
we want the hub back
give us the hub back
we want the hub back
give us the hub back

They'd only do it if you're making money off it.

Realistically it's probably all the things that frustrate /co/: perpetual marathons of more cheaply produced shows, like TTGo.
>>29718094
Yeah but if it becomes cheaper/more profitable (I'm not actually sure who's getting paid what for the damn show) to put their properties on some other network than it is to prop up Discovery Family, or if Discovery decides it isn't getting enough out of the relationship, you could see them up and relocate in a heartbeat. And given the show is itself an ad, emigrating to a bigger network could prove helpful to them.
That said, I think you're on to something with Netflix, especially since their programming is already on the service.

You just reminded me of that one fic where anon is an airforce pilot and takes down a massive army of griffons attacking ponyville in a fighter jet:

(old as fuck but it's fucking intense)

I'm not sure if it's going to be a blessing or a curse if the show shifts over to netflix.
On the one hand, the show's gone to shit and there might be some gleaming light in getting 13 or 26 episodes all at once. You can just ignore the shitty ones without much thought and instead immediately find and enjoy the highlights of the season.
On the other hand, the show will never be talked about again until the next batch. That's my biggest issue with netflix originals like Bojack Horseman. You get hyped for it for a week and then you binge watch it in a day or two and then you never get to experience the anticipation of waiting for the next episode. Each individual episode never gets its fair share in the spotlight and you don't have time to actually let the show make an impact on you.
I remember getting into Game of Thrones kind of late, when season 3 had already aired. I binge watched through the first 3 seasons in a week or so and could barely give a shit about the deaths of the main characters because I had only known them for a week.
>>29717767
Disney
I wouldn't mind.
I feel like they allow a bit more creative freedom which would be nice for both FiM and EG and the fandom would get some fresh blood and more artists and we might then get some decent merch.

Also, this is a GREAT article on Hasbro beating the shit out of Mattel by communicating to Disney the very themes driving this show: girls see princesses like boys see superheroes, as paragons of virtue.

Well, Good bye to EQD, derpibooru, paid porn comic that everyone pirate later, tumblr with donations and don't patreon(pencils, lumineko and others)
>>29717767
Prior to having the Hub/Discovery Family, Hasbro had its animated pony shows and specials broadcast on the Disney Channel. In fact, a strong viewership rating for Twinkle Wish Adventure back in 2009 was one of the final pushes that led to Hasbro going full steam ahead on a G4 animated series.

But that's where literally all of Disney's good shows are.

All the options suck
>>29718802
soon they will be buried under endless shitty live action comedies on the main network
