I don't sit on any political scale anymore. I guess benign anarchy or something, if you are desperate for titles, but the word 'anarchy' triggers people in the wrong way for what I mean.

Also; there is no difference between Hillary and Trump, man. Lizard people are lizard people.

Dammit. I got this idea for green but I am struggling to get it started. Grew out of pic related.

Steam engineer anon in Questria, getting a chance to explore the place with Hugger on her way to find rare critters in seldom-trotted placed.

I was thinking more of a blue collar-type anon skeptical of her whole hippie thing, but gets to know her and discovers she's not some airhead hippie from our world but rather a Jane Goodall type out to find everything righteous in the world.

Trying to write it is just walking into a wall, though.

Super underrated pone. Gonna try and do some quick, fun green.

>You are Anonymous, age twenty-four, star employee of the Canterlot Revenue Bureau
>And you absolutely despise the rain
>It cascades down from the sky above in a thin, desperate drizzle, splattering against the shoulders of your suit
>Scowling, you crick your neck
>This suit is the only one you own -- and the only one you need -- and you don't want to think about it getting ruined
>It was designed personally for you by one of Manehattan's top designers, and more than just looking good, the severe way it hugs your shoulders and cuts beneath your wrists turns you into quite an imposing figure
>Which, when you're trying to ensure that Canterlot's uppity nobles pay their fair share of taxes, is more than a little important
>Unfortunately, they're unlikely to be intimidated by someone whose clothes are sopping wet
>And so you increase your pace, your shoes clacking against the sidewalk in quick, staccato steps
>The bus stop is only a few dozen meters ahead, at least
>You can get there before the rain gets bad, and hopefully save a bit of face
>The last thing you want is to show any vulnerability in front of your coworkers...
>Just as you're passing what appears to be an especially run-down cart parked near the edge of the road, you hear a voice calling out
>"Sup, tall dude?"
>The voice is lazy and disgustingly cheery, so you continue walking, assuming it wasn't directed at you
>"That's an awesome suit, man. Where'd you get it?"
>A mare sticks her head out from within the confines of the cart, giving you a little smile
"What do you want?"
>You keep your voice as chilly as the early-March air, hoping she'll get the point; the last thing you want is to be bothered by hippies
>Unfortunately, she's either to baked or too stupid to get the hint
>"Just wanna chat, man. Where you headed?"
"Work. I don't have time for this."
>>
>>29716325
Yuppie Anon vs Hipper Pone. Color me interested, writefriend
>>
>>29716325
>"Ooooh, yeah. I getcha. Wanna buy some homegrown flowers, real quick?"
"Absolutely not. I'm not interested in pointless investments."
>"Pointless? Man, you're killin' me. Check this out."
>She disappears back inside the cart, and you hear her rustling around inside
>Stupid hippie thinks you'll actually stick around to buy her shitty weeds?
>No wonder she's camped on the side of a public street; it's probably the best she could afford, with that kind of work ethic
>You allow yourself a small smile at the idiot hippy's misfortunate
>Unfortunately, that smile fades quickly when you hear cart wheels behind you
>The hippie horse is trotting alongside you, dragging her entire home behind her
>And in her mouth, she's carrying a tiny blue-porcelain vase
>From within the vace, a few bright-pink flowers are stretching their leafy appendages to the sky, soaking in the rain
>You scowl
"I told you I wasn't interested. My finances are perfectly budgeted already, and I'm not about to throw money away for whatever you're peddling."
>"Whatever I'm peddling? Jeez, dude."
>She starts to slow
>"You could lighten up a bit."
"I'm not interested in lightening up. Unlike you, I have a proper job that I need to attend."
>She raises one unusually-bushy eyebrow
>"Someone's wearing their big boy pants today."
"At least I have the decency to wear pants."
>"Coooold, bro. C'mon. At least give this a chance. Someone as pissy as you could use a little color in their life."
"I couldn't, actually. Especially not something as garish as that."
>"Garish?"
>The pony starts to slow, genuine hurt showing on her face
>You take the opportunity to speed up, putting more distance between yourself and her
>>
>>29716377
>When she comes to a stop, you allow yourself a small smile of triumph
>A bum like her deserves to feel bad about her worthless, second-rate creations, after all
>The hippie drops her head, setting the flower on the ground
>"Look. If you apologize for what you just said, I'll... I'll let you have it for free."
"And why would I want it?"
>You turn to face her
>"Because... I dunno man. I really don't. I thought it'd make you feel a little better."
"Feel better? I'd feel fine, if you weren't insistent on making me late for work."
>"Then..."
>She raises her head to stare at you
>The pathetic excuse for a pony doesn't even have enough mental fortitude to look angry
>Instead, she looks like she's about to cry
>"...then just take it, alright? I promise, I won't bother you again. Please."
>She uses a single hoof to raise the vase up, offering it to you
>You take two steps towards her, getting just close enough that it looks like you're about to take her up on her offer
"No."
>And then you turn, and continue walking in the opposite direction
>She pony doesn't follow you

>You make it to work five minutes late, thanks to her meddling
>The entire way up the stares, you can do nothing but ruminate
>Five fucking minutes late, and now your perfect record is ruined
>Your boss, a spinster mare with a face like a hawk, doesn't make any mention of your lateness
>You hate that most of all; she should hold you to higher standards than that
>"Anonymous. Good to see you."
"Hm."
>You give a cordial nod as she hands you a stack of papers
"What's this?"
>"Audit orders. We've got some bum who hasn't paid their requisites in almost a year. It isn't much, but--"
>She doesn't need to say any more; you're already on the way to your office, the papers clutched in your hand
>>
>>29716480
>Tax dodgers?
>Aside from the obvious of murderers and terrorists, there's no kind of criminal you hate more
>What kind of citizen allows themself to become a leach on society?
>Just the idea of getting to bust some lowlife for feeding off the system is enough to make up for your terrible morning

>You sit down at your desk and begin to thumb through the documents
>The pony's name is Tree Hugger, which you can't help but chuckle at
>What delicious irony
>There's an address listed, as well as a long, long sum of payments she's missed
>Looks like you'll get the chance to squeeze a solid two thousand bits out of this mare, if not more
>You're sure there's some obscure fines you can hit her with, if you look hard enough
>Just then, a hard peal of thunder cracks the sky
>You immediately freeze up, dropping the papers
>Another follows, and you squeeze your eyes shut
>Rain may be a passive hatred for you, but you hate, hate, *hate* thunderstorms
>They're chaotic, messy, and incredibly dangerous
>And the last time you got caught in a bad one, you woke up to find yourself forever separated from your mom and dad, and stranded in this bizarre new world you've come to call home
>"Anonymous?"
>You hear your boss entering behind you
>"Everything alright? You look terrible."
"Fine."
>When you pick up the papers, your hands are shaking
"I'm fine."
>>
>>29716553

>The shaking fades, but doesn't quite disappear, when you step outside
>Rain is falling harder now, so you hail a cab to take you to Tree Hugger's address
>During the drive, enough crack of thunder fills the sky, and you find yourself struggling to keep your fear from showing on your face
>The last thing you need is the drive thinking you're some kind of unstable man-baby
>In fact, you make an effort to look even more unhappy than usual, hoping he'll be dissuaded from saying anything at all

>When the cab pulls up at the specified address, you calm down a bit upon realizing that you're visiting a shabby apartment building
>The lower class citizens are usually much easier to push around then the nobility, after all
>Throwing a tip to the driver, you step outside and walk quickly towards the building's doorway
>Rain is falling heavily now, soaking through your suit before you can get inside
>You scowl, grinding your teeth together
>You're sure you look absolutely unprofessional, but you can deal with that later
>After all, you doubt this random leach is going to look much better than you
>Holding Tree Hugger's papers under your arm, you walk slowly and professionally up the stairs until you reach the door
>And then you knock

>...

>Nobody answers
>You roll your eyes
>Does she honestly expect you to believe that she's out working?
>You knock again, and call out
"Canterlot Revenue Bureau. Open the door or I'm going to the police."
>You hear someone rustling inside, and then the door opens
>"Alright, man, I'm comin'. Just relax--"
>You find yourself staring into the face of the hippie horse from earlier
>>
god damn it reading somebody be a prick to Tree Hugger hurts and annoys me don't stop this is great

this on both counts
>>
>>29716730
>Immediately, the mare -- Tree Hugger's -- face falls
>"I thought you didn't want me to bother you anymore."
"Things change. You owe the crowns some bits."
>She sighs
>"I know I do, man. I promise, I'm gonna pay it. But I can't right now. I'm..."
>She looks around at her dingy apartment
>"I'm barely keeping this place right now."
"If you can't earn enough to keep a pigsty like this, then you probably don't deserve it. May I come in?"
>You ask the question even as you're already stepping over the threshold into your home
>More thunder crashes in the sky, loud enough to shake the apartment
>Your fists clench, but you keep yourself composed
>Tree Hugger shuts the door and slinks past you, unable to meet your eyes
>Her ears are already drooping in defeat
>Maybe this won't be as hard as you thought
>"You can sit down if you want. I'll... I'll be right back."
>She disappears into the back room of the apartment, stepping over flowerpots and packets of seeds as she walks
>Now that you're alone, you have a chance to examine the place
>All around you, more glass vases and pots are piled up on the shelves, most of them filled with soil
>And from many of them, new plants are sprouting, standing timid and green amidst their homes
>The only light in the place is provided by a wide window, through which you can see the dark stormy sky and the sheets of falling rain
>You gulp
>The storm's already grown worse since you got inside; outside, the world is dark and the wind howls against the glass
>Tree Hugger returns, dragging a wooden chest behind her
>She hauls it into the center of the room and flips it open
>Inside, you see barely thirty golden bits glinting in the room's dim light

A bit busy atm, but I'll have more later tonight and then tomorrow.
>>
>>29716859
>Behind the trunk, Tree Hugger desperately tries to preserve a little of her dignity
>"It's all I've got right now. But if I sell a few more of these, I can pay whatever I need to."
"Not good enough."
>"What? Come on, man..."
>She kicks at the ground, her ears drooping
>"What else am I supposed to do? Please, dude, you gotta understand."
"Stop calling me dude!" you snap at her
>You immediately shut your mouth, furious at yourself for letting your professional exterior crumble
>But the storm outside is making you all the more anxious
>The sky is an ugly shade of green now, and the wind is howling so badly that it's shaking the entire house
>Tree Hugger recoils at your outburst
>"If... that's what you want, man-- I mean, sir."
"Better. And no, I'm not going to wait for you to sell more of your plants, or whatever other meaningless garbage you peddle. You owe the crowns two thousand bits. If you can't pay it, then I'll make sure you serve your debt in a different way."
>"Different? You're not talking about... jail, right?
"Potentially."
>"No..."
>Tree Hugger's face goes pale
>"Come on, please. I can't be in a place like that, man. I really can't."
"You won't, if you pay."
>"But that's so much! I..."
>She sits back on her haunches, staring miserably at the ground
>"I can't get that much. Even on my best day, I can't."
>>
>>29718793
"Then I guess there's not really any other option, is there?"
>Tree Hugger lifts her head, staring at you with tears in her eyes
>"C'mon, please, there has to be something I can do. What do you want?"
"Are you trying to bribe me?"
>"I... I guess so."
"You understand that carries an additional fine, right?"
>The fright on Tree Hugger's face turns slowly to despair
>"You... okay."
>She hangs her head, tears beginning to flow freely down her muzzle
>"Okay..."
>You step towards her, towering over her and her near-empty trunk, feeling smugly satisfied in how handily you've dealt with such a nuisance
>For a moment, you're almost able to forget your own fear and unease
>That is, until you hear the low, mournful howl beginning to build up just outside the window
>It's quiet as first, so quiet you can almost pretend you don't hear it
>But it quickly grows louder, undulating and shrieking out a solemn, horrifying warning
>You feel your heart beginning to hammer in your chest, and your face goes cold as the blood drains from it
>Trying to appear still in control, you raise a trembling hand to wipe the sweat from your brow
>Tree Hugger stares past you, out the window
>"Wait... are those..."
"Tornado sirens," you manage to choke out

>"Whoa."
>Tree Hugger's voice is hushed and breathless, though it sounds like she's feeling more awe than terror
>"Since when do we get tornados up here?"
"I don't know! They're not supposed to happen this high up! What the fuck is going on?"
>You speak through your teeth, trying to resist the temptation to bite at your nails
>Tree Hugger look up at you, a little puzzled
>"You alright, man?"
"No, I'm not alright! Those buffoons at Cloudsdale must be behind this. Fuck, fuck..."
>You sit down heavily on Tree Hugger's couch, nearly crushing a potted cactus
"This isn't supposed to happen in Canterlot!"
>Tree Hugger recoils, glancing around the room
"There has to be somewhere to take shelter, right?"
>"Well, there's a storm shelter, but..."
"But what!?"
>"The entrance is at the end of the block..."
"The end of the block!? What idiot designed this city? We're going to die! Their incompetence is going to get us k-killed!"
>Your voice cracks, and you clamp your teeth down on your tongue to keep yourself from starting to cry
>At this point, you know any semblance of professionalism is gone, but you don't care
>"We're not gonna die, dude. C'mon, just relax."
"I can't relax! We need to find a place to take shelter!"
>Just then, lightning flares in the room, accompanied by a hideous boom of thunder
>The entire building shakes, and you drop to your knees
>Tree Hugger lays a hoof on your shoulder, looking bizarrely calm
>"It's gonna be fine, I promise. There's a closet back by my room. We can hide there."
>You try to stand to follow her, but your legs immediately give out from under you, sending you spilling back to the ground
>>
>>29721093
>Tree Hugger immediately worms her way beneath you, using her back as support and helping you stand
>"Easy, buddy. It's just a few steps that way."
"Don't p-patronize me."
>You try your best to still sound intimidating, but your voice comes out sounding terrified and small
>Head bowed, you let Tree Hugger lead you to the back of her apartment, where she opens the door to a tiny closet
>It's stacked with extra plant pots, and various floral-patterned frocks hang from racks along the walls
>The entire space it barely big enough for you to crouch inside, let alone both of you
>For a moment, you reconsider
>Then another boom of thunder hits, and you duck inside, curling on the floor amidst the pots
>Tree Hugger nods
>"I'll be right back, alright? Just gonna grab some water. You know, just in case."
>She ducks out of view
>Immediately, the anxiety stirring in your chest begins to double, now that you're alone
>As much as you hate yourself for it, you're relieved when Tree Hugger gets back
>The thunder is striking every few seconds now, each boom shaking the building a little more than the last
>You squeeze yourself into the corner, squeezing your eyes shut
>Dimly, you're aware of Tree Hugger's body pressing up against yours; you can feel the warmth of her fur and the gentle contours of her back as she tries to fit into the cramped closet with you
>But you're not even really here anymore; at least, you don't feel like you are
>You're somewhere far away: a very different world, eighteen years ago

***

>You're playing in the leaves outside when the sirens first begin to scream
>It's fun watching the way the wind whips the little dried pieces of plant into swirling currents around you; it makes you feel like a superhero
>But when the mournful howl first reaches your ears, you turn your eyes up to the sky to see heavy, dark clouds rolling in above you
>>
"Auntie Em! Auntie Em! It's a TWISTER!"
>>
>>29721232
>The wind lashes against your face as the rain begins to fall, soaking through your t-shirt immediately
>You hear your mom yelling for you to get inside, but you stay frozen to the spot, staring up at the clouds as they roil above your head
>There was something hauntingly beautiful about it, and it held your young mind's attention in an iron grip
>Even when the wind flung the rain so hard against your face it began to sting, you stayed watching
>Almost like you were waiting for something
>Behind you, you heard your mom calling desperately for you
>When you turned and tried to run, though, you find that you couldn't see where you were going
>The water flew into your eyes, making it impossible to see, and so you charged blindly towards the house, flailing your arms
>All around you, a terrible, shrieking cacophony rang out from the sky as the wind ripped around you
>Something curled around your foot, sending you sprawling onto the grass
>You looked up to see pieces of your house -- the home you'd lived in since you were a baby -- being ripped away by the wind
>And your mom is nowhere to be seen
>Something doesn't register, and so you crawl forward, hoping to find her
>But your house begins to crumble as the wind claws at its supports, dragging the entire structure -- your entire life, really -- into a heap of wreckage
>All around your, your old life comes crumbling down under the wind

***

>"Hey! Dude, snap out of it, alright? You're freaking out?"
>Suddenly, you're back in the closet with Tree Hugger
"Where am I... where's mom..."
>You shake your head, clearing the memories away
>When you raise a hand to your face, you find that you've been crying
"Shit."
>Tree Hugger raises a tentative hoof to touch your shoulder
>"You... you need anything, man?"

"Huh? No. I'm f-fine."
>A sob interrupts your words, though you doubt Tree Hugger would have believed you anyway
>You're about to wipe the tears off on your sleeve, but Tree Hugger passes you one of her frocks
>"Use this. Haven't worn this thing in years anyway."
"Oh. Thanks."
>She watches you, concerned, as you dab the tears away from your face
>"You wanna talk?"
"No. I told you, I'm fine."
>"Uh huh."
>Tree Hugger adjusts her position in the closet so that she's facing you
>Since it's so cramped, this requires her to practically sit in your lap
>Her muzzle is so close to your face that you can smell cinnamon on her breath
>It's... slightly comforting, though you try your best not to let that show
>You must not have tried hard enough, though, because she smiles at you
>"Listen. I think the worst of it has passed, now."
"How can you tell?"
>Despite your best efforts, you still can't get your favorite icy timbre back into your voice
>You still just sound scared
>"I can feel these things, man. Nature moves in cycles. Just close your eyes for a bit, okay?"
"Fine."
>You do as she said, letting yourself meld back into the darkness
>The droning of raindrops against the roof still fills the space around you, but Tree Hugger's right
>It seems a lot less violent now
>And though the thunder continues to rumble, it now sounds distant and far less violent
>"See? She's calming down now. Probably wants to rest, after all that."
"I... I guess you're right."
>You take a deep breath, suddenly aware that this mare's sitting in your lap
>And though there's no way you'll ever let her know, it feels really nice
>Weathering a storm is so much nicer when you have someone warm to hold...
>Tree Hugger scratches at the back of her head
>"So, uh... you wanna get out of here now, dude?"
"Huh? Ah, uh... yeah. I guess."
>"Doesn't seem like you're in much of a hurry..." Tree Hugger says, her voice taking on a slightly playful tone
"Just lemme out," you grumble

>Tree Hugger opens the closet door, and you haul yourself out of the tiny space
>Your entire body is cramped from being stuffed in there so long, and it's more than a little difficult to stand
>The hippy pony stands next to you, ready to catch you if you fall
>You ignore her, and begin making your way back towards the living room
>Unfortunately, when you get there, you can see through the main window that the rain is still pouring down outside, and occasional flashes of lightning flicker across the sky
>A cold sweat begins to form on the back of your neck
>Tree Hugger steps up next to you, nudging your leg
>"After a storm like that, the cabs definitely won't be running. You feel like walking home?"
"Not particularly."
>"Well, I'm not gonna force you to stay, y'know. But if you'd like to wait around, I'm kinda feeling tea right now..."
>You sigh
>"Look. I can tell you're *super* not into me. And you're probably gonna do your best to ruin my life, aren't you? But I can tell something's really messing with you, dude. Something bad. And if you want my help, well... I can pretend things are different, for a bit."
"..."
>You stare out the window, trying to will yourself to leave
>But you can't; you feel so weak that it's hard to stay standing, let alone walk several miles back to your own home
>So you drop your head
"Alright. I'll stay."
>Tree Hugger gives you a small smile, gently touching your knee
>"Great choice. I'll go get the tea started, 'kay?"

>Tree Hugger mozies on into the kitchen, walking with slow, almost unearthly-calm steps
>You watch her go, tasting the bitter alkaline of adrenaline on the back of your tongue
>How is she so calm?
>Doesn't she understand her entire house could have been torn away?
>Everything she cared about could have been ripped apart in front of her, and she's making tea?
>You sit down heavily on her couch, mumbling to yourself
"Stupid, stupid hippie..."
>You hope she gets back soon
>Sitting by yourself, it's that much easier to feel the memories creeping back, to smell the rain and the splintering timber as your house collapsed

>When Tree Hugger does return, she has a tray of cups and tiny, leafy snacks balanced on her back
>In that same calm, drifting walk, she comes over to the couch and sets the tray down, then sits next to you
>After pouring two cups of tea, she offers you the tray of snacks
>"Want one, man? They're kale patties. Pure vegan goodness."
"Isn't everything you guys eat vegan?"
>"Uh..."
>Tree Hugger scratches her chin
>"No?"
>She gives you a look like you're an idiot, taking one of the kale patties for herself
>"Like, pizza exists, man."
"Oh. Well, nobody told me that..."
>You'd kinda assumed horse pizza would just be disgusting grass on top of ketchup, or something
>Now you feel like an idiot for missing out on it
>Tree Hugger practically pushes a mug of tea into your hands
>"Drink up, dude."
"I'm not thirsty."
>"It's not for thirst. You're shaking like a leaf, bud. Aura's allll messed up."
>She pushes the tea towards you again
>"This'll fix that. Promise."
>>

Checked.

This Anon is making me think of Will Ferrell's character in "Stranger Than Fiction" for some reason.
>>
>>29740500
"It's not spiked with anything, right?"
>"Since when can you spike tea?"
"I dunno. Did you dump any gross magic in this?"
>"I mean, yeah? What would tea be without magic?"
"Wait, are you serious?"
>"Yeah? What's the big deal? Just some basic nature spells."
"I'm not drinking magical spiked tea--"
>Tree Hugger, tired of listening to you complain, grabs your face in one hoof and the teacup in the corner, and she makes you drink
>The tea is steaming hot and absolutely delicious (it has sort of a chocolatey, minty flavor), but you pretend to hate it anyway
"Blech."
>"Don't like it?"
>Tree Hugger sits back on her haunches
>As you hoped, she looks a little hurt, scrunching her nose in disappointment
>Unlike you hoped, though, it doesn't bring you the same vitriolic self-satisfaction you felt earlier
>Instead, you feel kinda... bad
>As gross as it is, you feel kinda bad for hurting this stupid hippie horse's feelings
>Must be the anxiety talking, you tell yourself
>And it must be the anxiety that makes you raise the mug to your mouth and take another sip
>This time, you let a tiny -- very tiny, mind you -- smile play on your lips
"It's... it's actually pretty good. Just wasn't ready the first time."
>Tree Hugger's eyebrows raise, and a pleasant smile spreads across her face
>"Yeah? Totally understand, dude. It's a bit of a unique flavor, you know? I hear they get these leaves from way, way deep in the Everfree forest. The taste is sooo exotic."
>She takes a long sip from her own cup, sighing in delight
>You drink a little more yourself, finally allowing yourself to relax as you sink back into the couch
>It must be some sort of universal constant that hippies always have the comfiest furniture, because damn
>You can already feel yourself getting sleepy just from sitting here
>Tree Hugger pours herself a little more tea, and when she sits back down, she's close enough that her wither just barely touches her shoulder
>>
>>29740703
Ha, I was wondering if someone would catch on to that. Stranger than Fiction is one of my favorite movies, and I based this Anon a lot off of Harold Crick.

Unless you got a hippie Vanadise rolling up in the plot soon, this isn't really a Hugger green, man.

You need a Pet Pony thread. I thought we had one of them up, but maybe it dropped off.

When Tree Hugger appeared in the series for the first time, I thought it was hilarious, and I loved her. Too bad life happened and I stopped watching.

>To keep yourself awake, you raise the cup to your mouth and drain the rest of your tea
>Tree Hugger smiles at that
>"You like?"
"Mhmm. You alright if I take more?"
>"Totally. Here ya go."
>She pours you a little more, watching you closely as she does so
>"So... you gonna tell me what all that was about?"
"All what?" you ask as if you didn't already know
>"Back in the closet, dude. You spent like twenty minutes staring off into space, calling for you mom."
"I did? Fuck..."
>"Well, I made that last part up to mess with you. But, uh..."
>You glare at her
"It's nothing important. Lost my family in a big storm. It was years ago. Sometimes the memories come back, and... yeah. It's nothing."
>You scoot away from her, your face flushed
>That's the first time you ever tried to tell anyone that story
>It feels wrong, somehow, to bring up those memories in front of a stranger
>Tree Hugger doesn't let you get away, however
>Every inch you try and put between you and her, she covers, eventually chasing you to the edge of the couch
>You wedge yourself against the armrest, but she just flops into your lap, resting your dreadlocked head on your thighs while staring up at you
>"C'mon, man. Neither of us is going anywhere soon."
"There's nothing to tell. They were shit people anyway."
>"Who's they?"
"Nothing, alright?"
>For a few minutes, the room falls silent
