It should base around a premise that the map won't let twilight time travel until she's rescued specific timeline she's in. E.g. Defeat Sombra, NMM, etc by befriending her alternate timeline friends and activating the elements of harmony

What a shitstorm this would cause with the other waifu-fags, not seeing their favourite pones for a whole season.
Now if the other ponies got dragged along, for most episodes, with some only having one to solve the problem, then it'd balance out.
Bonus points if there's a constant risk, eg: the same two ponies from alternate timelines can't meet otherwise wibly-wobly-timey-wimey.
