Back in 2012 this autistic fandom helpers me through the worst of my depression and loneliness. I actually made more friends and came out of my shell thanks to the encouragent offered by the show and its fandom. I'm not saying that I would've been lost without it, nor that I used it as a crutch, but it definitely helped smoothe over my transition to college.

Fluttershy was my favorite pony.

When I joined the fandom in 2012, I had never been a part of a community as actively as I ended up becoming, and I was always lonely, bitter, and depressed. I couldn't believe how strongly I felt about some stupid cartoon horses, but more than that, it blew my mind that I found others who were just as enthralled by it as I was, and some of them even became close friends. There was so much content everywhere. Art, stories, videos, music...and it never stopped. People were passionately invested in this community, and even this board felt like a warm and accepting place as long as you had a thick enough skin. Every now and then people started threads simply to let everyone know that even though we make eachother sick, we're part of something special that many are grateful for experiencing.

I don't care how autistic this sounds, but I'm thankful for having been able to take part in something that has had such a powerful effect on me, and even more so for the people who became close to me and shared the most beautiful experience with me; friendship.
The other me would never have experienced this.

Absolutely worse. It'd had drifted further in neckbeardness and depression. Had it not been for ponies I wouldn't had found a collection of individuals on /dzg/ who sent me up the path to a personal purgatory. Though I'm still fighting to overcome my own obstacles, I've improved a lot. I'm getting fit and studying philosophy, rhetorics and hand to hand. People irl find me charismatic and girls approach me.

I've met who I'd become without ponies. A fat neckbeard with little hair and no life spending my saturday nights painting small metallic women.

Could be any of the 2 following outcomes

1. Worse. I was feeling pretty depressed during the time I joined the ride. The overwhelming optimism in ponies did effect me and I was overflowing with joy for 2 whole years. That made me fix myself and do great on college. If I didn't have that I don't believe I'd have the will to do what I did when I was really happy.

2. Much worse. The depression was quite seriously and I couldn't not think about ending myself for almost a month. That even drove me to buy the stuff I needed to do the deed.

tl;dr if I was a pussy I'd fail in college and if not I'd end myself.

As pathetic as it sounds, ponies were really a turning point in my life.
