Don't feel too bad. I'm even worse. I crawl under the covers of my bed and cuddle up with my extra soft pillow. I imagine that it's a little pony. Whoever I read about in a green or saw in a picture that day. Or just one I made up on the spot. But its almost always some sweet lonely little thing who's had a bad day. I like to imagine that I'm lying there with them, arms wrapped around their cute little bodies, sharing my warmth and my love with them. I love them so much.

I like to think that I can be there for them. Give them some comfort. When they have a hard time, I can give them the love they need to get them through it. A reason to get through the day. To get up in the morning. Something beautiful and sincere to look forward to and to live for. The kind of warmth and comfort that can only come from another living creature who truely and wholy loves you. But I guess the real truth is that I just like to think that I have someone to do that for me.

Some days I spend hours in bed, wrapped up in this fantasy. It's the only place I feal truely happy.

The human brain has several triggers hardwired into it from millions of years of evolution that make something "sexy". They include a symmetric face, cute features, vibrant (not pale) skin, wide hips for bearing children, and more. Ponies check almost all the boxes. And I don't want to get too /r9k/, but human females just don't stack up.

Furthermore, some of you have known your waifu for six years. That's enough time for 3D couples to get married and start a family, and you've kept loving her without any visible return of affections. Now THAT is devotion.

But don't give up hope. Virtual reality is progressing fast (see the ponyVRville project for an example), as is sentient AI. We should have a pony alternate reality before too long. And after that, the singularity is coming, where you will be able to dance amongst the ponies until the stars go out.

Yeah no. Current "AI" is really just advanced decision making. It can relatively reasonably be summed up as "a lot of nested if-statements" (if any of you are codefags).

Maybe we'll get a believable simulation of a living being. You'll be able to interact with your waifu. Add a database of knowledge a la IBM Watson populated with common knowledge and any memories it forms while running and it might pass for a decent facsimile.

But it won't be real. It won't be alive and sentient. There'll be quirks that will show that, if you spend enough time interacting with it. It'll all be a just database.

Well, Boston Dynamics is currently working on quadrupedal robots capable of maneuvering about households and outdoor environments. So far, they only do what they are programmed to do, (which is mostly find ways to sneak under tables and related shit) however, that won't necessarily stop those GREATLY influenced minds from perhaps slapping a shell onto one of the robots and calling it Rainbow Dash. Look up Spot Mini by Boston Dynamics to get a general glimpse of what could be done. I'm sure I'm not the only person thinking about this.
