Could this have as much potential to be an actual enjoyable game as much as Fighting is Magic did before the C&D?
>>29553029
Never heard of it, so no. We'll never get a good game.
>>29553029
How have I never heard about this before? Shit looks very promising.

Promising, yes. Though I'm not overly impressed so far.
Seems like the devs are too focused on making the game look as flashy as possible rather than helping the player to understand what's going on.
First problem that should be visible to everyone is that the entire fight looks like a fireworks display on the 4th of July. Every spell is like a supernova of light and particle physics to the point where at certain points its impossible to tell what you're actually looking at.
Compare this to something like Castlevania. Same concept, you're fighting an evil dude in a creepy castle and there's a lot of jumping around in a 2d arena. In Castlevania though you can understand at every point in the fight what's going on and why.
The camera in this game needs to be pulled back so that you can see more of the arena and the characters, it's too easy to lose them in the chaos. Further to that, the particle physics need to be toned down massively, as a basic spell shouldn't look like you've just blown up the sun.
Why are there damage numbers? There's no number on Twilight's health bar, so what relevance does "120" have? What about "300"? Are these big numbers? Small numbers? I know it's an odd thing to point out, but when you really think about it there's no reason to have these numbers floating around when you have nothing to anchor them to. It's irrelevant information that the player doesn't need.
There's promise, but it's made the common mistake of most amateur devs in that it's far, far too flashy. It's all about style and no substance.

I agree with everything here. Thankfully, seems like all of it is stuff that can be reported to the devs and easily fixed as long as they take the criticism. I do still think it has a higher level of quality than most fan games to come out. (The environments being so detailed and the voice acting being so spot-on being two reasons) The only other pony game I can think of that I have hope for in the future is Horse Game, which will hopefully be expanded more upon soon
>>29553324
This.
Both the sound effects and the music were drowning out the voice acting.
>canon characters
What's the devs' strategy for dealing with the inevitable C&D?
>>29553979
Rename everything and redesign every character to look like a Picasso painting.
Twilight Sparkle becomes Purple Magic and looks more like a dinosaur than a pony.
Rainbow Dash becomes Elgee Beatee and closely resembles a blue square with triangular legs.
Chrysalis becomes Big Bug, and looks like a dog made of diamond.
It'll all work out, Anon.
>>29554079
So a generic fighting game vaguely resembling mlp? Seams kinda redundant with Them Fighting Herds coming.
>>29554079
>renaming and redesigning everything
Does anyone here remember that oneanthrocomic book? https://e-hentai.org/g/505518/499ddba2ff/
As far as I am aware it's the only fanwork where the characters were renamed.
>Applesack
>Charity
>Dash
>Flustershy
>Pinky
>Twibright
I guess the anthropomorphization counts as a redesign.

It's a Japanese game, anon.
Have you ever played a Japanese game? Extremely flashy, noisy, full of numbers and sparks and stars and anime figures.
>>29553029
Doubt it, still:

Is it an RPG?

No legal department wants to deal with furries, and much less porn; porn furries is a near impenetrable barrier against copyright claims.
Just look at patreon; all these people directly profiting from big franchises drawing fanart in a super strict pay2view policy and not even the site admins which have very strong rules against it do anything.
>>29554369
Yeah a poorly made one. Japanese games are actually good.
This stereotypical shit is everything wrong with their autistic sardine-living retard selves.
>>29554312
C&D were never a fucking problem. It was always the incompetence of the person behind the games which had no game design skills, no graphics, no programming and was too stupid, lazy and disorganized to dedicate his time properly to making progress. Most bronies just stare at the engine like a bunch of monkeys sticking their thumbs up their noses and falling unconscious from the lack of oxygen. They take 2 days to do something that takes 20 minutes.
>>29553181
It's very pretty but looks impossible to keep track of

NOT KHUZANG

>They take 2 days to do something that takes 20 minutes.
Do you even know the first thing about developing games?
And if not, why should anyone care about your uneducated thoughts on how long things "should" take?
>>29556721
so you should probably have a game out by the end of the week, right? one we'll all adore?
>>29557810
I've seen the horrors of horsefucker game development first hand. Their ability at getting things done is at the same level of their autistic social interaction which is none. It's like their awkwardness and handicapped cognitive level seeps into everything they do, including technical things.
>>29557836
You've seen, but you haven't participated? So you admit that you have no gamedev experience, and your claims about how long things should take are uneducated guesswork at best?
>>29557836
>I've seen the horrors of horsefucker game development first hand.
I mean, these are Japanese.
If anything, you should compare them to the usual fan games (what weebs call 'doujins') from there.
The scene definitely influences these guys greatly.
Also, here's their Trello for anyone who feels like practicing Japanese and lending a hand.
