I don't think "stealing magic" means what people are assuming it means.

People are of course its going to mean he steals magic like Tirek did, in a "drain and absorb manner". They're forgetting that There's other ways it can be done as a plot, like how starlight stole ponies magic in The cutie mark map: she didn't do anything with the magic and didn't need to steal ponies magic to be powerful, but stealing ponies magic via their cutie marks was still the central theme of her Plot.


its highly possible that Storm lord doesn't gain anything from stealing ponies magic, but is doing it for another reason, like just to prevent Ponies from controlling the weather, weakening them so he alone could do so, or to appease windigos, or something crazy like that.

The G1 comics he came from had him apparently steal the winds and keep pony's magic in burlap sacks for example, no "Eat magic, get Swol" shit there.

I'd recommend it, though I found the finale unsatisfying. Everything before that was great though. The finale wasn't bad, I just found it to be underwhelming. Although the finale is known for being really divisive, with some loving it, and others dismissing it. Fun fact: the show was made by a guy who was super depressed and slightly nuts at the time of writing it. It's also chock full of various religious symbolism. The reason for the variety was to remain religiously unbiased, but because I can't recognize anything other than Christian symbols, I don't get the equal vision so to speak.

The rest I've never watched so I can't comment.

Okay, okay, a little less than okay but not quite shit.

It's hard to care too much about the characters when their doings aren't connected to the larger world of the show. Maybe the TV Special will help in that sense. They lay it on a little too thick with Sunset Shimmer's redemption guilt. I'd say "it's for kids", but the show itself has shown more subtlety.

I really enjoy some of the music.

The basic character designs are kind of horrible. I have no idea why they thought it would look good. Their legs are so long and their heads so big. Any time they put their hands near their faces I almost want to vomit because they look like they're deformed.

Aside from that the actual animation quality is good and has as much cute attention to detail as the show itself.

You'll go insane trying to figure out how the alternate world actually works though. I'm at the point where I'm calling the "magical purgatory" theory my headcanon.
