Yes. It is a criticism that Sunset and Twilight steal the spotlight, it's absolutely 100% true in EQG. I even said it was particularly bad in Friendship Games. But at least the Mane 5 have SOME role in that, compared to To Where and Back Again, where in Part 2, half of the Mane 6 don't even get lines. And they're practically written off in the first part. Do you even know what they did in the S6 premier? And in the S5 premier, what the hell did any of the Mane 5 contribute? At least in LoE they were doing things without needing their hands held by Sunset and Twilight.

Yes, Sunset does steal spotlight, but not nearly as much nor as badly as Starlight. That's definitely undeniable.

I don't believe that. People who pretend to like EqG more than FiM are just baiters. Thing thing is though, when the first movie came out EQG was the worst thing ever. It leaned too much of FiM for the characterization of...pretty much everyone. It was a obvious cash grab on the popularity of shows like Bratz or Monster High or gen 3, sorta. Also the premise is so fucking stupid. But Rainbow Rocks was surprisingly good, and Friendship Games...well it wasn't great, but not as bad as the first. And I still haven't seen Legends of Everfree.

Meanwhile, I think FiM had a pretty good fourth season, and five wasn't terrible. I didn't hate six, but I don't deny it had issues. I think that at least some of my problems with season 6 come from the fact that the writers don't seem willing to take the characters in new directions, so we get a lot of rehashes of old stories or else they do take the characters in a new direction, just not one that makes sense for the characters.

It not GREAT, but it has 2 very important upsides.

One, there's no glimmer. NO FUCKING GLIMMER. Sunset is a decent character who is NOT a fucking sue, and has some decent character to her. Additionally, she's not making everything revolve around her like glimmer does, at least as of Legend of everfree.

TWO. They nerfed twilight and gave the other 5 Super powers on par with Twilight from the elements of harmony. This allows the others to contribute in a meaningful way and not be utterly outclassed by twilight in every way.

As such, while its not nearly as good as early seasons of FIM, and its got its problems, it still has more POTENTIAL than FIM has at this point, as it looks to be morphing into the Starlight and twilight show, with special emphasis on starlight.
