Before I discovered Shimmer, I only "waifued" Twilight to be able to join in on waifu culture and discussion on this site but then I discovered Shimmer and I fell in love. I understood what it meant to have a waifu after that and I've loved her since then. I love her so much. She is my waifu and nothing short of death will make me reject her so.

I didn't change mine. I took until season 4 for my heart to click with the one I love, after getting to know her for years. I'd hope I am underestimating people, but between all the "claiming", crudeness, and lack of understanding of ideas relating to waifu stuff, it would surprise me very much if something proved that at least half of the board took the one they call their waifu seriously and really loved her.

The mistake I'm talking about isn't switching lovers, by the way. That can be understandable, when deeply thought out and not whimsical. The mistake is fooling yourself into thinking you have a waifu just so you can participate in those parts of board culture. It's easy to spot people like that.
