And then there's a large gap between this and finding her in Our Town. What happened between then? Did she just leave as a filly? Or was she still home, spending the next years living next to other people, studying, getting her own cutie mark, and still having enough of a grudge to then go away and build the village? I don't know about you, but when something upset me as a kid, I didn't go on a dedicated lifelong journey of revenge. I maybe cried and was sad for a day until something else occupied my mind or I simply forgot. She lost a friend and for some contrived and unknown reason cannot establish any further contact with him, yeah, okay. A month later she should barely even care. But instead, she is still dedicated to her cause throughout her entire childhood? You can't tell me these two are "equally dumb".

The solution in The Crystalling didn't stem from the characters setting their goals and working hard. They were saved by a random guy walking in and telling them what to do. Whether the Elements and other solutions are bullshit or not is a different argument.

Straight up in the first episode we find out that Fluttershy isn't just shy, but also empathetic, has a great talent with animals, and stands up for/defends her friends. We learn that AJ is a down-to-earth, honest hardworking pony, but also competitive and stubborn. We learn that Dash is not just a fast boastful cunt, but someone who is also selfconscious about her image, while being daring and competitive. The episodes put the characters in front of different problems, which they solve in different ways. And even if the ways are similar, the journey itself makes the characters show something more about them. That doesn't happen with Glimmer, because she spends her episodes either by 1) reminiscing her past and doubting herself, or 2) showing she actually didn't learn anything, as seen in ELTSD. Really, what can you tell me about Glimmer, other than that she's good at magic, hates herself and still doesn't understand friendship?

ELTSD is probably my second biggest gripe with Glimmer. Instead of the show showing us how she progressed so far, giving her more traits and further developing her character, we were instead shown how she learned nothing and is still the same, rationalizing mind controlling her friends, with her concern being how to make a better mindrape spell instead of showing regret over her acts before she's explicitly told to do so. And then she gets away with it without any real repercussions. Which kinda brings us back to square one. No real. development, just a pony crippled with selfdoubt, burdened by their past actions. There's nothing else. It's all we got the whole season and it's one of the disappointments of S6 in my opinion. Instead of turning her into a likable character, they're just spinning the same thing over and over again.

Also again, don't forget that the show is secondary to the toys and if Hasbro actually spent money to make brand new molds for the toys they are actually planning on keeping the current toy gen alive for a long while. They will keep the main cast and the current toys till they no longer sell and then do a reboot with everything new.

Maybe its just me being optimistic but that doesn't sound like a bad thing. I mean if they are even close to entertaining as RR or Friendship games I have no problem switching the places of the two. The problem here is they appeal to the EQG fandom, not the little kids.

Kids, generally, have the superior taste and prefer MLP to EQG. Or at least prefer Monster High to EQG itself so choosing which toys to buy is easy.

Ponies were designed by Lauren, who's gone and she also pushed for the redesigns of toys in the show.

Nowadays, it seems as if the only designers involved at all are the toy makers and no one at DHX is there to design something better out of it.
Same goes for a lot of the newer ponies less adherent to the pony model but that's up to personal preference.

The logo looks pretty nice but I'd be much more hyped about them hiring legendary animators than VAs.

There's only so many chaarcters you can flesh out in a single movie and I don't care for cameos.
Great animators have an immediate effect on the quality of the resulting picture and you can have a few very good ones at the cost of a single slightly famous VA because VAs are overpaid to hell and back.
