I won't go on a rant. But really, other than that, the finale was extremely solid. And, at the very least, Chrysalis was not redeemed. She made clear her utter contempt for Starlight Glimmer, and vowed to return.

Sorry. I was memeing, but I guess that I failed. Fans of the show who dropped the show when they stopped liking it and fags who never liked the show and only were in the fandom to get horse fame are completely different things. I (honestly) regret watching season 6, and I love every previous season. I understand that what ruined season 6 could have happened on a previous season for other people, I understand that they can still be fans of the show (only until season X), and that's not the same of being a poser. A lot of my friends have gotten over it, and I admit that I have largely, too. I still think that it was disgraceful and a borderline insulting way to make this 'positive change' come about.

You may remember with Tirek, where the resolution came all at once out of nowhere. That's like how this was, though the Season 6 finale had the advantage of being - like I said - genuinely solid right up until the "Hay, buy these new toys" moment. It was as if the show creators wrote this beautiful story, then realized "Oh fuck we need an ending!" so they threw together a fanfic tier shitfest.

I hated this changeling redesign, too. But now that I get where the inspiration comes from, it doesn't bother me so much. It's just the way it came about makes my soul hurt. I love this show. I love these characters. I want to keep loving them. But they hurt me. It's like an abusive relationship.

I guess an earlier episode should have prepared me/us for this, since they had a changeling drone do a face-turn. If you ask me, it was the worst animated episode of the season (everything was jerky,) they didn't give the changeling (Thorax) a super-cool and buggy voice filter like Chrysalis had (they made him sound like regular jo, and kind of a dope) and the moral was about racism. Ponies being scared of Changelings is NOT a good allegory for real-life racism. But that's just me being opinionated again.

The actual finale was fine. The nuchangeling designs are kinda meh, but it's silly to let that ruin the whole finale.

That was what ruined the finale for me, not the hideous designs but the fact that they decided to change the morale of the previous episode (they can look like enemies but be friends) and they decided that "good" changelings are those gawdy OCs, and bughorses are "bad" changelings. It's like the writers for both episodes didn't even talk to each other.

And these two are just like "Oh, hey, we were personally assailed by these changelings. But changelings can change, right? That's a good argument, Spike. You got my fucking number. Nevermind the fact that this guy wants to eat our kid. We'll just change our entire world view at the drop of a goddamn hat and give him our baby."

You bet your ass I'm mad. I'm mad and salty and butthurt. It was a shit episode with a shit moral and lead to a shit ending in a finale that was otherwise fucking par excellence.
