5/10. For the most part, there's little to differentiate this comic from being better or worse than other sections - with the major exception, of course, of Discord's awful reasoning. It's again abundantly clear the writers simply do not watch the show (lazy, since the Discord episodes can be finished in what - 2 to 3 hours?). Maybe I've become desensitized to IDW's general poor quality, that "it's now particularly shitty, just generally bleh with points of awful" is enough to even give it this high.

Why is it so bad?
Why is it always consistently so fucking bad?
These are people who write and draw for a living. Why can't they be good at it? I'm not being elitist or presumptuous in the slightest when I say that I could write a better story than this. Several other people on /mlp/ could write better than this.
Everything is shit. The show is shit and the comics are shit. There's no refuge or better option anymore. It's over. None of the characters have any meaning anymore. None of the interesting plots opened up are explored. It's like watching a theatre play being preformed by second-graders. The dream is dead and we're smiling and pretending otherwise.

They can stay in character and although the dialogue is simple it gets the point across and doesn't ruin the mood. Pacing is also a lot better.
Topics are a big thing because a lot of the comics are "just because we can" by the own admission of their writers while the books are made for character building reasons. The Blueblood what if story was explicitly done to be crazy rather than explore something interesting.

The decent chapter books are written by G.M. Berrow, who wrote one S5 episode of the show (The One Where Pinkie Pie Knows). Even Berrow started off sucky (see her first Twilight chapter book) but got a lot better later on. Her Daring Do ones are my favorite
But sometimes (mostly for EQG related stuff) they have some random hacks write the books instead and those are literally painful to get through

That comic was okay, Discord was portrayed as in the show. He is very childish and insecure but he would never abandon chaos because "muh feelings". The dream made sense because he himself didn't realised the problem for his chaotic outbursts. Also putting Fluttershy as main reason made more sense than opinions of common peasants. He didn't seem to give a fuck when a monster was eating a mail pony or deadly vines were crushing 2 ponies.

It's not so much degeneration as her quality being weirdly back and forth. It never gets as bad as her first book (Twlight Sparkle and the Crystal Heart Spell), but it's not a steady/consistent progression. A book that comes later can actually be worse than a book that came before, only for the next book after that to be decent, etc.

As a Sunfag, I can't see this coming out good either way. Even if Celestia comes off with an objectively better portrayal, Luna is still a good character that deserves infinitely better. Hell, even just the concept of the story is a huge slap in the face of logic - after the last time they had a spat, "play petty 5 year olds and split the hosue in half" ranks somewhere a few spaces above absolute bottom in how I'd expect them to treat each other.
And the painful thing is, this prompt could be saved by just changing one thing:

I don't get these huge kind of leaps when it comes to Discord being insecure.
Keep Calm and Flutter On wasn't satisfactory in that regard, and it seems like any episode/comic that follows up on that premise makes the same mistakes.
Neither show or comics have ever succeeded in evoking feels in a way that makes Discord's redemption feel believable.

Because he enjoys making a game out of it. Same reason they managed to defeat him in season 2, he could have beaten the main6 with a snap of his fingers but instead he decided to give them riddles and see if they could manage to beat him.
I guess just using his full powers is too boring for him and since he's a god defeats don't matter to him anyway, they are only temporary.
