Yes, as someone who just wants to see characters I like being decent and good to one-another, or at least trying to, I don't care about lore, world building, or darker elements. Not one bit. It's all a waste of time, to me. I want to see happy ponies having a mostly nice time. I understand that some people feel the opposite, and hate what I love and love what I hate. That's fine.

I liked the show because it was about "cute ponies doing cute things". I don't care if we didn't get much lore, I didn't care if some episodes were boring, that was more than enough for me.
I hated season 6 because it was the opposite of cute ponies doing cute things. It was simply awful. In all honestly I can't understand how can anyone call this abomination "cute ponies doing cute things" anymore. I'm just sad.

Unironically this. That episode defines why I hate season 6. NSP is one of the "good" episodes of the season, and it had a fucking suicide attempt. That was plainly awful and certainly not what I want to see in the show. And it was not even close to being the worst episode of the season.

Fuck, this show used to be uplifting, but I'm being completely honest, more than a half of this season was seriously depressing for me. I'd rather watch Game of Thrones, at least you can be prepared to see shit there, but I wasn't prepared for this season of MLP at all.

OP here, I only brought this topic up because so many people get pissed when I suggest the series should borrow more inspiration from Super Mario Bros. I feel like that would be a great way to keep things simple, cute, and still provide lots of world building.
