I know you think it's probably cringey, and yeah, it is on an outer layer. BUt I find it interesting that people who watch something for leisure decide to attempt to aggrandize it with their artistic skills.
Think of it as Batman. Many people have written stories about him, and each person who is given the chance to play with the character wants to push the edge--to make their work seem more than what others find simple.
In other words, it's people who want to see the simple concept, and add more to it out of artistic passion.
Is it autistic? Maybe, and often is. Is it bad though? I can't bring myself to say that.
