I've browsed 4chan since 09 and witnessed the rise of ponies, but never paid much heed to it. In late 2012 a buddy began pestering me about watching the show and since I'm a little bitch, I caved and watched the first two eps. Didn't care for it a whole lot, but it left enough of an impression that I actually watched the show in 2013.

So here I am. A Twifag for all of S1, then I saw the light on a rewatch of Ticket Master.

In early 2011 my roommate (who doesn't live with me anymore, sadly) told me about the new My Little Pony show made by Lauren Faust. I was basically a Powerpuff Girls-equivalent to a brony in high school so it certainly sounded promising to me. I watched season 1 all the way through to the then-current episode, Over a Barrel, and was hooked.

I was on funnyjunk back in 2012 and they constantly spammed pony memes. I checked the show out eventually cause I thought the jokes were funny. Turns out, I really enjoyed the cartoon itself so I stuck around and kept watching. A year or two later I decided to check out /mlp/ and I liked what I saw. Now I'm here and I can't escape but that's okay because this place still provides a little bit of joy to me. I still go on funnyjunk too. Literally the only 2 places I visit on the internet regularly. Unless you count pornsites.

What got me to try out the show was that someone said it was like Powerpuff girls and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, I then thought about when I used to watch Powerpuff Girls as a kid and how it had the appearance of a girl's show yet everyone enjoyed it regardless. I then started to give it a chance and after the first episode I was hooked. I never saw it like that. I've seen large youtubers rise on sheer pony popularity alone, and no matter how early the abandon the ride, their pony shit still feels like cringey, dated, lame little in joke ridden outbursts. Its no different now than it was 3 years ago, and this place is no different.
I feel the same way you do about here, and other pony sites, but I always feel as though they are timeless representations of some collective psyche. The time frame is immaterial, and really it is not, nor was it ever, nor will it ever be the same as sonic, or anything else that has ever existed. A least not like you would believe it to be.

But from now in the present, I actually look fondly back on those days in 2010-11. It was an innocent time and everybody was just having fun because part of this counter-culture thing.

(this was about halfway through season 1)

Was bored one day looking at pics of old school pony toy mods (had seen a few at a con I went too a few weeks before and thought it was neat that people were modding MLP toys into things like movie monsters.

ended up following a link to the infamous end of creator driven animation article. read it saw who was making pony. thought what the hell i'll give an episode a shot. Watched first 2 episodes was still bored had nothing else to do watched another couple episodes. Decided I liked it enough to look up what others thought about it.

Found out about early brony fandom. later began to hang out in Yaridovich's synctube a while. Migrated to the nor/mlp/eople synctube.

After synctube died started posting on /mlp/. It was my first experience with actually posting on 4chan instead of just lurking.

I usually saw the show because I watched the Hub for Transformers and G.I Joe and stuff but never paid attention to it, cause you know, ponies

One day I gave it a chance out of sheer boredom, and much to my surprise I fell in love with it and then caught up on all the episodes (this was sometime when S3 was airing I think)

As an advertising thing, when the first episode came out back in 2010, iTunes offered it for free for a short while. I downloaded it as a joke, so I watched it for a chuckle. I got hooked shortly thereafter, and the obsession has only grown from then.
