Memes aside, this ship is actually cute and original for it's format. Not even adult themed tv series can pull off an interesting friendship turning into romantic one. Couple is either already established or very obvious from the beginning to be building toward it (Katara/Aang, Steven/Connie) or very bland and awfull (Mako/Korra,Disney Princess/Prince)

Discord was neighter established as a love interest originally nor even meant to appear after S2. Yet he evolved from self centered tyrant without empathy to a dependable protector of Fluttershy who risk his life for her.
If this was G3, Fluttershy would blush and fell for Big Mac and probably dated him in one episode while Discord would be defetead permanently as one shot ugly villain. Yet now not only she pushed herself out of the cliche territory but also actually developed due to this relationship. Discord and Fluttershy learn assertivness and kindness from eachother. I approve this ship even if this show mostly canonise the shitty ones.
