Basically it's a romcom, borderline harem kind of anime.

The protagonist is a eccentric gamer that only plays dating sims, yadda yadda yadda, he has to woo girls in the first arc to remove the evil demons feeding off them, which they then get amnesia.

Later on goddesses possess the place where those demons were, and he has to re-woo them to awaken the goddesses, which restores the girls' memories from when they were woo'd. The goddesses are the key to saving the world.

And after wooing all the girls and saving the world, he goes for the one girl that was a bitch at the beginning, the only one who wasn't possessed by a goddess, remembers nothing before the demons.

I'd personally say it's because of the circumstances surrounding their transformations.
Sunset's transformation was the literal culmination of her evil deeds. Of course she was haunted by it, but not by the fear of turning back into some evil demon, but of turning back into the monster she was before she became a demon. The kind of person who would WANT to become such a demon.
Scilight on the other hand was more of a case of tampering with something she didn't fully understand. It made her mad with power and afterwards made her afraid of what she could do if she ever got that powerful again, which manifested in the form of the Midnight Sparkle persona and her fear of all things magic.
That all being said, it would be pretty rad to see Sunset wrestle with a literal manifestation of her dark side as well, but maybe some other time.

Luna did something similar. The whole Nightmare Moon thing seems really, really close to Sunset and Scitwi.
All three were pretty emotional when it happened, but for different reasons. Luna was going through her edgy teenager phase, Sunset was getting the world's most powerful murder boner, and Scitwi was getting hit with an ultimatum that she thought could ruin her life. Each had some pretty powerful magic doing a thing, too. Luna was alicorn, Sunset had the element of magic, and Scitwi had her weird succ machine. So maybe they've all got weird magic demons running around in their brains? I dunno.

As I neared the large double doors that lead to the library, I stopped and turned. My locker stood infront of me. Tall and narrow yet wide enough for what I needed to do. After fumbling with the steel combination lock, I swing open the door. Inside was some normal school supplies. Various textbooks, a sweatshirt and broken pencils scattered at the bottom. I take off mybackpack and place it on the metal shelf in-front of me. From it, I take out the tools I need. A washcloth and a small bottle of liquid, chloroform.

I set Sunset down on the floor of the van and hop into the back. There are no seats or any items save a cardboard box tucked neatly into the back corner. Once I'm settled in with Sunsets sleeping head resting on my lap, Edward closes the van door and gets back into the driver's seat of the van.
