No, that's the part that baffles me the most. With GoH, Hasbro clearly didn't think about redeeming the changelings so they could be villains for that line. Why the fuck would Haber ruin that?

Well now hang on there are still some changelings that survived the mutiny. The mane 6 + spike, both princesses, Shining Armor with Candyass and Abomination, that makes twelve.
Add in Chrysalis and you have the unholy apostles plus their leader and i haven't lost hope that they will bring back Sombra and tagteam with the changelings.
They have the potential for an new exciting arc here.

At this point I wouldn't be surprised they do this just to spite us.

In order for little girls to not be frightened of reformed Changelings, they had to be radically redesigned so little girls no longer associate them with those scary looking black bugs, Thorax's in-between period was likely closer to what they wanted them to actually look like.

It's the reality that they turned the changelings into...these. They thought this was better and made them more palatable to the audience.

I suppose as a franchise for little girls, maybe the original changeling design was off-putting but even leaving that aside, those are just weird looking. They're like something from Pokemon.
