It's Sun-day: let us, once again, bask in Princess Celestia's gentle radiance.

The first series' finale, The Best Night Ever, established something of interest about Celestia: she's not at all fond of dull, boring social occasions, and was grateful to Twilight and her friends for livening up the evening. - but what do you think led her to view the Grand Galloping Gala as something to be endured, and not enjoyed? Some awful event in her past, maybe? Just the long, slow grind of a life lived over millennia, maybe?

Maybe watching 'important ponies' grow up before her, first as small foals and then as grown-ups, and then suddenly she's looking around and wondering where Scarlet Skies is, she was always quick with a smile, quicker with her wits and ever such a gentlemare - only to learn she passed on without anypony thinking to tell her - maybe that kind of soured the Princess a little.

Ever and ever forever and ever
You'll be the one
That shines on me like the morning sun.
Ever and ever forever and ever you'll be my spring,
My rainbow's end and the song I sing.

Take me far beyond imagination,
You're my dream come true, my consolation.

Ever and ever forever and ever
You'll be my dream,
My symphony, my own love esteem.
Ever and ever forever and ever
My destiny
Will follow you eternally.

Ever and ever forever and ever
You'll be the one
That shines in me like the morning sun.
Ever and ever forever and ever
My destiny
Will follow you eternally.

Honest guess would be that you have to endure. In the olden days the question was weather it was worth dying for something. Sometimes just as hard is living for something: enduring a life you really don't like with people you really don't care for in a situation you'd really like to escape. It's rough, but you have to endure, and hopefully, try to do a good turn for someone else while you're here. It doesn't really magically get easier, but you start getting used to things and manage to deal with it better, or at least that's how it's been for me. Just my thoughts. Thread's always here for you.

Sorry for being gone so long. Haven't abandoned the sun yet. I've been trying to write at a higher quality, but it's been something of a difficult process, to say the least. Hopefully things will sorta improve from here on out, and just say something if something's bad or wrong. AS always, hope someone out there's enjoying this at least.

>The battle was over.
>Looked like it, at the very least. As I exited the cave, I could just catch the sight of some changelings heading for the hills. With their leader dead, the entire force had routed.
>It was… surreal. Glancing around, I saw a mess of equipment littered around the field. There was mercifully few bodies, but the ones there were… I looked away.
>Best to report back to camp. Celly would probably want to hear about all of this.
>I began stumbling along. The entire world felt a bit hazy. I was walking like in a dream; I strained as hard as i could but just stumbled forward like a drunk.
>It was probably shock. Or poison. Maybe even blood loss, but still nothing that a bit of magic couldn’t fix up.
>I started seeing in double vision. Everything was just a mess anyways, so I closed my eyes and kept stumbling forward. Just had to get back to camp. Just had to keep moving forward.
>I don’t know how long I stumbled around out there. It felt like an eternity, though I’d bet it was just a couple of minutes.
>Regardless, I remember a clear voice. There was a shout, “Halt!”, and things began to change.
>My eyes snapped open. Ten feet in front of me, there were three royal guards. Each was brandishing a long, sharp spear.
>>
>>28682736
>”I said stop!”
>The threat of pointy death snapped me out of the haze. But it was more than that. Things began to… flow, almost like a second nature.
>There was no longer three royal guards. There was no longer three ponies.
>I was faced by three hostiles. They were arranged in a rough triangular formation. The one in front carried himself better than the others, and combined with him speaking for the group, I could easily assume that he was the leader.
>To the back left was a dazed looking stallion. He seemed young, almost a filly, and distracted. More concerned with the prospect of changelings than the present threat. Clearly an inexperienced conscript; certainly not difficult to remove in single combat.
>And finally, in the back left, a wounded mare. Though stoic faced, the limp and clear laceration on the back left leg were clear giveaways. Regardless of her skill, she wouldn’t be able to leap into combat, and could be easily mopped up after the others had been taken care of.
>They had spears, and I had nothing. I’d have to act fast.
>First, rush the officer. Catching him unawares, I could bash my shoulder into his head, hoping for a knockout. Then pivot straight into the rookie. He was looking off into the distance behind us, wouldn’t be too hard to yank out his spear.
>Throw him to the ground, and pivot one last time, speartip into the final hostile, a clean-
>”Stop! Please!”
“What?”
>And then it hit me. I had a spear in my hand.
>I shivered. In front of me was the wounded guardsmare. My left foot was resting on the novice’s neck. He whimpered softly. To my back, the sergeant was out cold, but uninjured.
>”Please don’t hurt them! You can take me, I’m begging you!”
>I… didn’t even remember any of this happening. It was just instinct. If the guardsmare hadn’t snapped me out of things…
>Best not to think about it.
>>
>>28682749
“Well, um, thanks for the offer, but I’ll just let them go. Sorry about all that.”
>The mare cocked her head, clearly unsure at the change in events.
>I gently lifted my boot off the stallion's neck, and began to help him up.
“Sorry, just… thought you guys were going to do me in. Never can be too sure about changeling spies, am I right?”
>The mare’s face washed over with relief. “Oh thank you, I was so worried-”
>Everything had ended in smiling faces all around, but I still couldn't help but feel a deep sense of unease. Perhaps Chrysalis hadn’t been entirely bluffing after all.
>I needed to see Celestia.
“Well, sorry about all the trouble, but do you think you guys could show me back to camp? I’ve got to report back, and all.”
>There was some chipper response, and off we went. Three smiling ponies, and one vaguely distressed looking Loyal Member of Celestia’s Royal Guard.

I wanna court Celestia the old-fashioned way.
A really slow and steady romance, with alot of dates in cozy resturants, picnics in the summer fields, sending love-letters, picking roses and bringing them for her.
Eventually leading up to us proclaiming our love for eachother and then intense hand/hoof holding beneath the stars. Without using a chaperone

I know it's vaguely controversial, but I'd prefer to skip this coming Sunday; there's plenty of posts left in this thread, and I've explained before how it makes me uncomfortable, putting up a fresh new thread if the old one died just a few hours beforehand.

... I'd like to do something Chrismas-y for Nicole Oliver, though, while there's still time. I sent out a card on everyone's behalf to her promoter last year, nothing came of that - maybe we could all send cards instead? Since the beginning: early 2014, off the top of my head. Others have jumped in occasionally, of course!

I did the Summer Solstice, which was fantastic to share sun-praising with everyone ... although the December solstice is the most important in the druid calendar, so to speak, with it being the birth of a new year. Could have done with more cool druid ceremony and fewer mashed students, though

It lasted till last week, and I was thinking about a Halloween edition, to wait a little more and have a general theme for the thread. Something similar was made last year. I was thinking of starting the next one on the 31st, provided my laptop doesn't die in the meantime, or I have to send it to repair again.

Do you think Celestia swings from right to left and left to right in terms of politics over time?
Would she support welfare state in one century and in the next one border on facist state?
You know, to keep things fresh and exciting

I personally think that she does very little in terms of politics. Equestria seems to be so small and homogenous that most things, buisiness and governments alike, pretty much runs by themselves.

It would be funny to see a truly fascist Equestria.

Reminds me of an old short, auctually
>”Anonymous, what did you DO?!?”
“Which front?”
>”I was on vacation for two weeks! TWO WEEKS!”
“Correct, imperator!”
>Celestia moans. “Where’s Luna? She was supposed to be in charge here...”
“Legate Luna is currently directing army group south from the front, Imperator!”
>”I… When I said to play hardball with the griffon diplomatic party, this isn’t what I meant.”
“B-but Imperator! They impinged on your honor! Their ambassador commit unspeakable acts!”
>”He called me ugly, twice.”
“Yes! The spirit of war was ignited, conflict became inevitable, imperator!”
>”Anon, why do you keep calling me that?”
“We um, held a referendum after the war started. Luna told us about the olden days, and imperator’s one of your new titles”
>’SIGH’
“We’re also known as the ‘Empire of the Ever-Living Sun’ now, if you were interested.”
>”Anon, I specifically said to keep policy friendly.
“But I am!”
>”Really now.”
“If you’re friends with someone, you want what’s best for them, right?”
>”Okay…”
>Griffon leadership was decadent and corrupt! If I was really a friend to Griffons, I’d want them to be lead by the most benevolent, enlightened, and glorious figure I could think of! You!”
>”Annon, I…” Celestia let out a deep sigh.
“Imperator, do you need a tummy rub?”
>”Yes Anon. Thank you.”

In terms of domestic policy she seems very unattached, and leaves issues to local authorities for the most part unless something is important to garner her attention. Whatever she was doing was good enough to make that last millennium known for being "peaceful." And during that time, on foreign policy seems to have been fairly isolationist.

However, after Nightmare Moon, and especially after Twilight became a princess, she's suddenly been pushing a heck of a power play. She's practically annexed the Crystal Empire, and is almost blatantly planting Equestria-friendly leaders through the Mane 6's interventions and connections, establishing alliances, and grouping world leaders in "Friendship Summits" to define trade terms and helping to rebuild their countries after centuries or more of isolation.

I'd die happy if this was actually building up to something she was planning all along.

Solar Flare, Nightmare Star, Daymare Sun... I've seen a few. First one is my favorite.

Although I'm not sure Celestia would "go Nightmare" in the same way Luna did - Luna seems to be the more openly emotional of the two, so it's logical she'd blow all at once in a big, showy way. Celestia, I think, would be more subtle if she turned evil - systematically enacting new plans to do what she sees as "right" in her typical methodical, working-in-the-background fashion.

Celly is the political grandmaster, she's been playing the game for millenia. And how did she rise to power?

>I vaguely wondered if I’d ever see them again.
>Base camp was an energetic, disorganized, joyous mess. Ponies danced, sang, drank- there was more cider than I had ever seen before- all in wild celebration. I kept walking.
>It was a bit surreal considering my current predicament. A stallion guffawed in the distance, and I couldn’t help but remember the laughter of the dying hive queen.
>Probably best to stop by the royal quarters, make sure the princess was safe. Last I’d seen of her was back in the middle of battle, and I had been a bit busy falling out of the air to check up on her.
>It was a bit further through the crowd. I could spot a jubilant throng formed around Celly’s quarters, singing about something or other. I pushed past a few tipsy ponies and finally made it through the mass.
>That huge, striking purple tent. Purple, the color of royalty. Rest. Home.
>I stepped past a guard and into the tent. In front of me, Celestia and four other ponies were poring over maps and old tomes, arguing quietly about changelings. They seemed completely oblivious to my entrance.
>Celly looked a bit worse for wear with a few scratches and cuts, but she was still going strong. At least that was good news.
>I waited a bit longer, listening to the ponies going on about the changeling retreat. After the third proposed theory, I gave a polite cough, and heads began to turn.

“Yeah, I think so.”
>As she turned around, I noticed more small gashes pocketed across her from the changelings. >I felt a pang just looking at it.
“Princess, are you alright? You look-”
>Celestia cut me off, but her voice still sounded a bit shakier than usual. ”I have a few scratches! You fell fifty feet and landed in enemy lines? What happened?”
>Well, it was going to come to this eventually.
>Still, a nagging voice in the back of my head told me it would probably be a bad idea to talk about the whole “Chrysalis tried to posses me or something and it might have sorta worked” bit.

>One of the dignitaries mumbled “Maybe just give us the short version.” He got a few glares, but I decided to roll with it.
“Sure. After falling, I got dragged back to their leader, their hive queen. She planned on toying with me or something, but I got the jump on the old hag and finished her off. Changelings ran, I walked out, and here we are.
>Nobody moved.
>The room was dead silent.
“I think her name was Chrystalis? Something like that? I can show you what’s left if you really want.”
>Suddenly, one of the dignitaries grinned and burst out, “That’s it! That’s why the bugs fled!” >Another one blurted out something about “hero” before running out of the tent to spread the good news.

Anon finds himself in equestria as the result of a botched bit of magic. He has to struggle against twisted changelings, a hostile equestria, and potential evils within himself with only Celly believing in him.
That's the two sentence version, but there's more to it. It's on /sun/ so Celly's a main character and stuff. If you want a look, it called "A new dawn" in the pastebin

I'm not sure how "Machiavellian" it was supposed to get, but I do think that Faust - based on her comments about Celestia having mild precognizance and arranging things based on her visions - did intend for Celestia to play the scheming/planning ruler archetype.

I think Faust described her idea of Celestia as a cross between Elizabeth II and a Greek goddess.

After one thousand years of politics and friendship, Celestia has gotten pretty good at telling if people/ponies are good at heart. Unfortunately, an unsubstantiated hunch really isn't enough to get the other princesses onboard, especially when the hard evidence seems to say otherwise.

If the first episode if the show is Celestia essentially betting her life on knowledge of twilight and co/Luna and how they would act in her absence, it didn't seem unreasonable to put this down. I tried to make sure it wasn't just completely unexcused plot contrivance.

Also part of the reason she accepted anon is an unfinished plot point but yeah.

This guy>>28724273 here, just finished reading it.
Im dissappoint.
This particular story bores me. Plot is unimaginative, Anon is just there, going with the flow, highhandedly killing dozens of bad, ugly and evil changelings and having complete trust in Celestia.
In the future it will turn out that Celly DID try to make him her tool, but suddenly grown feels and shit, creating artificial conflict to make this green more exciting.
Either that, or Celly is and always was an incorruptible goody-two-shoes.

Either way, I don't find it interesting enough to continue reading, sorry.
>>
>>28732659
Well, thanks for giving it a shot. Frankly, I've considered going back and editing the poorer early parts, as they were essentially my first shot at writing green and really wern't all up to snuff. The other problem is that it's been written in weekly updates, so the most important early stuff is the worst written. The other bit about "goody two shoes" is another thing that's been rough. The perfect balance between "mr. Rogers" and edgy tryhard is different for everyone, so you can never satisfy everyone. Still, It sure could be too saccharine, as I was more worried about being an edgy prick than the opposite. Figured that blackmail and a death threat was enough to stop it from being too bright, but you can't please em all.
Anyway, thanks for giving it a shot. I'll be the first to admit I'm no Dostoyevsky, just a guy who saw the state of the thread and tried to give it a shot. I do think you're right that the early parts need more rework and polish, but I'm more worried about continuing to put something up each week. At the very least, the writing now isn't as piss as the early bits. Maybe someday I'll try fixing it up, but until then, thanks for being honest and giving a response.

>>28733021

>The other problem is that it's been written in weekly updates
I can't imagine what it's like to write bits of a story every week, not knowing how you're gonna continue the next time, if not for a vague idea, plus taking into account the critiques you receive and changing things as the story proceeds. I think I'd take it too seriously and on a personal level. That's probably why I never tried anything other than random oneshots.
>>
>>28733084
Well, thanks for the encouragement. At the very least, I've been able to entertain a few people. Really do need to polish that intro though, bit painful to read through going back.

>I can't imagine what it's like to write bits of a story every week, not knowing how you're gonna continue the next time, if not for a vague idea, plus taking into account the critiques you receive and changing things as the story proceeds.

Heh, you auctually made me laugh out loud there. Long story, but it's good. I rember it vividly; vague sadness at the state of the thread, and just hope that it wouldn't dry up. Asked on here what people needed/wanted, multiple replies of drawings or green. Can't draw worth a dime, but like doing political and history papers in uni, so thought I could give writing a shot. I would daydream during my summer job, trying to come up with some idea that wasn't complete trash. Finally get a vague idea that I like, no, love. At least in my head it all flows well, semi-interesting twist, and best of all, can last the thread a while as long as I keep writing it. I start up, but after an initial flash of inspiration, it's a slog. In the past I had written about abstract concepts and grand analysis, but dialogue? Setting the stage? Character? It was miserable, type, read, see it's crap, grit my teeth, and erase. After hours and hours, I finally get a couple pages for the intro "hook". I look at the thing, know that it's far from perfect, but decide it's the best I'll get without burning myself out before it even begins. It's late at night, so I wait till the next morning to post it on /sun/. It's stupid, but I feel almost giddy that I've finally done something to try and give back to the thread. I keep going back and refreshing the thread every ten minutes, waiting for the first response. A couple hours later, I come back and see one short review, reading:
>Well, I guess you tried.
>>
>>28733994
Looking back I kinda laugh about it, but honestly I have no idea why I didn't stop writing then and there. Felt really quite miserable at the time, but hey, that's life. Still, better to be told you're writing crap and having a chance to change than not. Just glad that I've been able to slowly learn a bit from critiques and all, so that hopefully it improves. At least is some posters like some of the later stuff, it turned out all right in the end.
Sorry, that was longer than I had thought.
TLDR; still chuckle about how I mustered up will, spent hours agonizing over the thing, and then just got a snippy meme.

I probably would have stopped. Thanks for deciding to continue.

Welp, here's a reminder for me not to write anything I can't wrap up in a single series of posts.
>>
>>28737252
Still, don't just let fear stop you if you ever get a good idea, when everyone does that the place dies. If you ever do think of writing a bit more, just post an intro "hook" and ask if people are interested, thoughts, etc. If the response is against continuing, then you can just a stop and feel proud that you tried giving it a shot. Even if you do continue, it's not like you're married to it; you can always take a break, change stuff, don't even have to do regular updates or anything. Worst case scenario is people just reply BENIS:DDDDD or something, and then you go on with you're life. If you ever do try writing something, even just a one shot, just ask and I'd be happy to read it over and review, and I'm sure others would too. Promise I wouldn't just meme on you!
In the end, it's your choice, and in the end >at least you tried
>>
>>28735437
Thanks pal. I know the thread really isn't one for events, but maybe some week we could set up an edition where all the regular posters and lurkers would each try their hand at a short or something. I'll be honest: not everyone can write, just like not everyone can draw; but maybe someone would find they're not as bad as they thought, and try to contribute more in the future. Might be worth a shot, communicate with heli to have something like that on a special week, maybe first of the next year. Worst comes to worst, it's one week wasted, and that's happened plenty of times before. Just an idea, might be worth a shot.

That's probably when you get no replies at all. It's even worse than being told to fuck off, because you're stuck in this sort of writing limbo, and you don't know if people read and don't reply, don't even read, or don't give a fuck altogether.

>even just a one shot

>When Princess Luna saw the cake her eyes positively sparkled!
>She took a slice, took a single forkful of all the layers, and a single ‘petal’ of one of the flowers, and tasted it
>She took the rest of the cake back to her quarters to do unholy things to it
>Your mind finally caught up to the present, icing dispenser in your hands. A single white cake sat on the table
>You didn’t make ornate and elaborate cakes often, anymore
>Mostly on commission from nobles and aristocrats
>The Nobles were terribly aloof to you, preferring to cross the street when you approached, and turn their noses up at you when they have to pass in the castle corridors
>But what they didn’t know about their confectionary wouldn’t hurt them
>You had an anonymous business on the side
>And you cackled at the irony every single time you got an order
>Orders were placed, and the day after the noble or ‘peasant’ pony who placed the order found said order on their doorstep in a white box, with a neat little bow around it
>Business was good
>Life was good
>Over time you had grown fond of the princesses, and they grew fond of you
>It wasn’t long before you were teasing Luna about their meeting
>She teased you right back in equal measure
>Celestia adored your baking, more than she adored any other foodstuffs in the castle, or so she told you
>Part of you wondered if she was just being polite

>But given the fact that you were the senior baker, and she had been subtly rounding out in the flanks since you started working here, told you something different
>You weren’t complaining about it
>When you came to this world she had been positively frail
>Now she was piling on the pounds one after another
>But she wasn’t fat, by all means no
>She was toned, man!
>As in damn she had abs!
>Her flank was round
>Her hind legs were strong and firm
>Because by the gods she was… well, she was a god in this world
>She had the right amount of jiggle, but you had no doubt that she could break your bones if she ever got mad at you
>You squeezed too hard on the thick, long icing dispenser in your hands
>A blob of white landed on the cake
>There you go again, fantasizing about flanks
>When did you start to dream about ponies, you ask?
>Listen, boy, you’ve been in this world for six months
>The only females that even closely resemble your species have fur along half of their body, and they can bench press a metric tonne
>You were never one for the amazon look
>But these ponies, there was just something about them
>Their curves, their innocent looks
>They way they smiled
>Their eyes
>Their soft coats
>Dat chest tuft
>It made you want to corrupt them
>You wiped the frosting from the cake and licked your finger, going back to decoration
>It was dessert for dinner tonight
>The princesses liked your baking for the baking, not for the fancy shit you put on it
>You only put the fancy shit on for special occasions
>Birthdays, solstice celebrations and the like
>Still, that didn’t mean you were just gonna bung some ingredients into the oven and serve them sludge
>You had professional integrity
>Snrk
>The cake was finally done, and not a moment too soon
>A single layer with white icing and a silver latticework as decoration
>With your work finally finished, you stood back to admire it
>Simple, but elegant
>Much like the princesses themselves
>>
>>28738874
>You take a deep breath and pick up the cake, taking it through to the dining hall
>Celestia and Luna sat at the head and foot of a rather modest dining table
>All your thoughts of them owning a massive, overly long table were dashed the first time you saw it
>They were more at ease when they were alone
>Or when they were around you
>Their talking was animated, and they both smiled upon seeing you approach
>Their empty plates were set aside as you smiled back, set the cake down, and took a seat at the table
>Your stomach grumbled in protest at seeing the food
>You didn’t realise how hungry you were
>It was common for you to work through lunch
>Celestia furrowed her brow in motherly concern
>”Please, Anon, have something to eat,”
>Princess Celestia was the first to take a slice, then she hovered one over to her sister
“Thanks, but I’m fine,”
>You wave a hand politely
>Your stomach held a knife to your throat and loudly growled in warning
>Like a wolf
>Celestia arched an eyebrow
>Luna tilted her head as she cut into the cake with a fork
>”Clearly you are not ‘fine’, Anonymous,”
>Luna took her first bite of the cake, and for a moment forgot that you had been starving yourself to make it
>She savoured it, swallowed it, and took another forkful
>Celestia took a bite. Then another, then another.
>She didn’t bother with savouring it… or chewing it
>She just liked her cake
>>
>>28738753
Really, not half bad writing there. You're doing really well with the bouncy, lighthearted tone. It fits the whole 'brief misadventures' thing nicely, if that's the angle you were going for.
>>
>>28738963
Sure... let's go with that
>>
>>28738952
>Luna hummed thoughtfully as the silver latticework added a unique texture and somewhat different taste
>”Once again you have baked something divine, Anon,”
>Celestia hummed in agreement
>You give them both a wink
“Just what two divines deserve”
>They roll their eyes
>”Honestly, Anon, if you want to bed us it’ll take more than simply a cake”
>You turn to Luna with a sly grin
“Oh yeah? If I wanted you I could get you”
>She sets her fork down
>”I would break you,”
“Is that a challenge?”
>”It’s a promise,”
“I like ‘em rough”
>”You’ve never HAD rough”
“Kinky”
>As you had your little tete-a-tete with the night mistress, Celestia finished her slice and set her plate to one side, dabbing at her mouth demurely with a napkin
>You looked at her in mock shock
“Only one slice today?”
>She nods simply
>”I think I had better cut down. My Torc is starting to feel a tad too tight”
“You mean your Yoke?”
>She glares at you
>”It’s called a TORC Anon”
>You hold out your hands in a placating gesture
“Hey, call it what you want, I don’t judge your fetishes”
>She tuts
>Ever since she told you why she wears it you’ve been teasing her about it
>’It’s so I look more official’ she said
>’Advisors told me to do it to make me seem more regal’
>’Ponies weren’t taking kindly to a princess being naked’
>You knew she just wore it because she liked to feel something around her neck
>And had told her as much many times
>She didnt care for it
>Luna yawned, bringing you both back to the moment
>She stood up, turning around and stretching, like a cat
>”I suppose I had better turn in, the sky won’t paint itself, you know”
“Oh”
>You call out after her
>She turns around, eyebrow arched and ear flicking
“Draw a dick tonight”
>She shakes her head
>You’ve been trying to get her to do it for months now
>Just a tiny little cock in the corner of the sky
>She never does
>She will one day

>Celestia stands up as well
>”I suppose I had better think about going to bed as well”
“Need some company?”
>She thinks about it for a second, a hoof to her chin in an exaggerated motion
>To your absolute surprise, she smiles and nods
>”You may walk me back to my room, if you desire,”
>You stand up, holding out an elbow
>Initiate fedora-tip.wav
“Milady”
>She giggles and takes your offered arm with a hoof, walking out of the kitchen
>A horde of maids and servants descend on the table as you take two steps away from it
>It’s creepy how you didn’t even notice the small army until they moved
>Were they enchanted… did they even exist?
>Your brief moment of inspection ends as the door to the hall closes
>Leaving you with your arm hooked around the princess as you walked
>As much as you enjoyed playing silly buggers, she did have an image to maintain
>You could tell by looking at her, she was casting her eyes around for anyone prying
>The guards you could trust
>But the wandering nobles?
>Well, their lips did like to loosen around tabloids
>You release her hoof
>She stumbles a little
>You laugh at her
>She hits you with a hoof
>Now THERE is that strength you were talking about
>A comfy silence settles over the two of you as you walk
>Her gentle clip-clopping and your thunderous footfalls are the only sounds
>The castle at night is so surreal
>You’ve never gotten used to it
>The day guard, or ‘Sun Spears’ as they call themselves (faggots) are replaced by the Night’s Watch
>They are still as death
>You still haven’t got an answer from Luna as to whether or not they ARE dead
>You’ve never seen them breathe
>...come to think of it, you’ve never seen what’s under their helmets
>They’re always too dark
>You pass one as you walk, slowing down to gaze at it
>The helmet moves towards you with a creak. A hoof tightens its grip on the spear
>You jog back up to Celestia, tugging at the collar of your shirt
>>
>>28739052
>Celestia’s silken voice smothers you in warmth
>A comfort as you’re surrounded by possibly-undead guards
>”I don’t think I ever thanked you”
>You look at her, brows furrowed
“Thanked me? For what?”
>She cranes her neck into one shoulder, as though unsure of what to say
>”I’ve never got a chance to know a human before, even one from the world beyond the mirror”
>You raise an eyebrow
”So, you’re thanking me for choosing not to live in jaundiceland?”
>She laughs and looks at you, eyes twinkling with mirth
>Her smile is infectious
>“Crass, but, yes. It means a lot to me that you decided to stay”
>You wave a hand at her dismissively
“You just like my baking, dontcha?”
>You bump into her jovially
“Worried about my business on the side becoming to lucrative? Afraid to might actually have to start PAYING for my culinary confectionary creations?”
>”Well I would be lying if I said no”
>She bumps you back with her flank
>You wiggle your index finger at her
“Never say never, Cel. Never say never”

>She tilts her head
>”How is your business?”
>You shrug. She’s never taken an interest in your other pursuits before,so you didn’t really know what to say
“It could be worse,I get a couple commissions every week to tide me over”
>”Anything interesting come through your door?”
>You nod
“I had a wedding cake last month”
>Her ears perk up
>Trust her to listen extra attentively when you talk about her favorite foodstuffs
>”Oh?”
>You hold your hands out in front of you
“Three layers, red and black icing, jam center”
>Her muzzle scrunches
>”Red and black?”
“I thought it was kinda edgy, but, cest la vie. The customer wants what the customer wants”
>She looks away in thought
>”I wonder who that could have been for”
“They paid well for it, and good thing too. I was this close to chucking the whole thing from the castle rooftops”
>She turns back to you accusingly
>”Are you using my kitchen supplies to make your commissions?”
>You sheepishly smile at her and gnaw at your bottom lip
“I’ll give you a cut?”
>She smirks
>”Bribing a princess is treason, anon”
>You make a scoffing sound, turning a corner and making the final approach towards her chambers
“So sue me”
>You come to a stop outside her chamber door
>She turns to you and places a hoof on your chest
>”I’ll just sue for a kiss”
>She leans in and plants a chaste peck on your cheek
>“Thank you for walking me home, Anon”
>You look at her dumbly
“Is that what I did?”
>You fucking autist
>Well, better than ‘you too’ you guess
>”Yes, it was. Good night, Anon”
“Good night, Celestia”
>Her door shuts
>You raise a hand to cup your cheek, idly rubbing at the place where she kissed.
>The moon cut through the window, bathing the shadows in white light
>As if Luna was watching you
>She probably was. Creep
>Just in case, you turned to walk back to your room
>The memory of the kiss lingered on your cheek
>As well as the scent of vanilla

Here's a brand new program for you folks at home! Keep that radio on! Don't touch that dial! It's time for -INCOMPREHENSIBLE STATIC- eye!
>It was a strange case. Probably wouldn’ta taken it if I hadn’t been down on my luck and down on the bourbon. Still, not every day that you get rung up by royalty.
>My name, well, isn’t important. My job is. I’m a private eye. Just call me anon.
>Normally this town is quiet as the grave. Most my work is nailing flimflams and perp-sweating for the blueshirts.
>So, when a coupla coppers showed up, my first thought was that I pissed of the probation officer. One barfight with a filthy commie, and suddenly you’re on the brink of the big house.
>I tried hoofing it for the back door, but was too late. Both the goons had already gotten in.
>So you can imagine my surprise when I got a royal summons insteada a sap to the face.
>There were paying well, so I headed out to the royal digs in no time flat. No idea why the princesses wanted a gumshoe, but my pocketbook wasn’t about to complain.
>Haden’t met em in person before, so I was a bit unprepared for the occasion. Made my first introductions to the younger one.
>>
>>28748714
>She was a strange gal, that blue moon. Crazy beautiful hair, though that went for both. She seemed nice enough, but I couldn’t help but think something was off.
>I finally figured it out: her rear, or more accurately, her lack thereof. The thing was smaller than my checking account, and don’t even get me started on how flat. Except for the slim chance it was lipo gone wrong,I figured she musta had some disease.
>Obviously, I had gotten called up to track down some stolen cure for blue moon. Just looking at her, with a phisique that nasty, she wasn’t long for this world without medicine or a divine intervention.
>I made my way on, making sure to avoid skin contact with the patient. So focused on avoiding skin contact, that I nearly barreled into the other dame.
>She had a bit of a long face, but I’m not doing her justice. She was pretty easy on the eyes. Still, not as good as a full flask and a pack of lucky strikes, so I asked we get down to business.
>The dame told me that some palookas had nicked her shoes. Wouldn’t have been a problem but that they were solid gold.
>Clearly, this was a cover story. The real goal musta been some panacea for her poor, flat, sis; but she wouldn’t admit it. Awfully nice of her to try and save that poor mare some embarrassment.
>Strangest bit was that the sunny dame wanted to tag along with me for the ride. I guess it made sense, as they probably thought I grab the goods and head for the hills with em. If they sent along some other schmuck, I might draw my piece on em and blow em away. If I tried that with the royal, I’d just get deep fried.

>The dame could hold her own in a fight, my only job was to navigate the nightlife. We headed out, her with a cheap disguise, and me with a loaded gun and a loaded hip flask.
>First place I could think to head was the cheapest dive in town, Diamond in the Ruff. The place drew in those dog types better than a rotting steak drew flies.
>The dog’s love for “requisitioned” merchandise was only eclipsed by their love of shiny stuff from outa the ground, so I figured it would be a good place to start.
>The dame tagged along, chatting all the way. When we got to the bar, the two of us headed in. The dame was a better talker, so she began asking questions while I canvassed the place.
>Unfortunately, things headed south fast. Either someone had bought em off, or the dogs were in on it, but after the first inquiry bottles began to fly.
>>
>>28748735
>The dogs are known for their short temper and love of a ruckus. Faster than I could get out my piece, one of em had already jumped up in my face. I bopped him in the schnoz and he went down.
>A second one ran at me, but I had gotten out my iron this time. I gave the lout an up close and personal introduction to springfield army, and popped his friend in the gut for good measure.
>I was clear, but the dame sure wasn’t. I turned around and saw about a dozen of the dogs closing in, looking to put her in a Chicago overcoat.
>I froze- the dame was a good fighter. They only way she coulda been overpowered like that was-
GASP
>Piss Poor writing, her worst enemy! It’d happened times before, she’d get into a mill with someone she shoulda beat, but then out of nowhere, the dame would lose and twilight and co. would have to save the day.
>All these times, it had been due to the actions of the scumbag, Piss. Some said he came from Pawtucket, Rhode Island but nobody knew for sure.
>Losing to Chrysalis once coulda been just an off day, but twice? Piss musta been working behind the scenes, it had to be!
>This was deeper than golden shoes, or even blue moon’s tragically small butt, this was part of a years long battle. And it looked like the gal’s number was almost up.
>>
>>28748739
>So I did something dumb. Wasn’t my style to let a lady get axed, so I started taunting the dogs.
>”You stupid palookas! You’re all so nasty you could be modern art!”
>They stopped, and looked over at me. I had to do more.
>”You screwballs are all so ugly ya look like you came outta EQ-”
>Couldn’t even finish my last word before the livid brutes charged at me at a record pace. The dame was free, but I sure wasn’t.
>Twelve brutes jumped in unison, all eager to give a harlem sunset. I had no idea if I could make it out of this one.
DRAMATIC MUSIC
Is this the end for our fearless hero?
Does the evil Hasb- Piss Poor escape justice?
Do you want to know what happens to our dashing private eye and his ladyfriend?
If so, write your local radio station asking for another episode! With enough write-ins, this could become a standard serial on the station, taking our five o’clock time slot! Make yourself heard, and stay on the lookout for Anon: Private Eye!

In the original writing, Pawtucket Rhode Island's text was about three times bigger than anything else. Hint hint. Also, apologies if there's anyone here who even liked eqg. Oh well.

to linger on would spoil it anyhow
let's creep away from the day
for the party's over now

Well, glad you enjoyed it, though the noire is a bit more of a niche sorta thing. Still, don't know if I'll continue any time soon, because the style takes a long time to write and I'm also Hobbes1914, writing that whole story. Don't think I could very well juggle two, unless there was some sort of mass demand. Really, I just thought it was a really good idea, so I typed it up and put it out under a different name because people that habitually skip my normal stuff might like this sorta thing. It's probably too niche for most, but glad someone else out there has a similar sense of humor!
>>
>>28748918
Also, you a fellow Calvin and Hobbes fan?
>>
>>28750862
If people habitually skip your stuff, maybe that's a sign.
>>
>>28750877
Frankly, I've got no idea if only one sap reads it or the thing's auctually followed by everyone on the thread. Without evidence, I can only take a shot in the dark. All my early stuff was real novice work: a lot of hope and a lack of skill. My guess is that some posters probably ignore me now because of the bad rap. At least, far as I can objectively tell, the later stuff's a more up to snuff. Still, a bad rap follows ya closer than a lost dog. Only other option would be to get off the typewriter and back on a barstool, but I haven't reached that point, at least not yet. It's just something you gotta suffer through, like death, taxes, and probation officers. That's life.
>>
>>28750877
But really if people think I'm just clogging up the place with low quality schlock, I'll stop. I'm just writing to try and help the thread, not be a burden. Just tell me to piss off and I'll leave.
>>
>>28751000

There's always some retard talking smack which is why the thread has been nearly dead for over a year with every content creator driven off in disgust.

His stories read like the average 15yr old fimfic 'author'.

I'm just one person, though, if the rest of you like it, good for you.

Your autism is showing.

I don't know about everyone else here, but I don't expect war and peace from amateur/first time writers doing it for fun on a board on the internet.

Besides, writefags have names, if you think their stuff suck you could always...not read it?

Shit like this is the reason /sun/ is dead and gets maybe 1 green per thread, when it used to be the busiest board on all of mlp.

"I don't have an arguement, so I'm just gonna call him new LOL"

/Sun/ used to be huge. That's not an opinion, that's fact. Now it's a good week if the thread lasts till the next sunday.

Yes, I am a fan. That's what I meant by "those two".
>>
>>28751232
Well, what are you looking for in your stories, what's the part that makes these so bad? Is is poor plot? Bad dialogue? Rushed or forced writing? Is it a bore in general? Not romantic enough? Just want explicate green? At the very least, try saying why you think the thing is a cringey mess. Be as vicious as you want, tear the guy apart, but at the very least say why.

the reason the first series will forever be my favourite: the whole 'once upon a time' feel.
>>
>>28756000

Me too. Also the fact we still had the hope of actually seeing Celestia have an episode. Ever.

Meanwhile Emo Moon Pone has had like five.
>>
Celestia had more lines in the EQG blooper reel than in season 6.
>>
>>28756036
It's 6 fucking years in, how much hope are we expected to have after all this time.
>>
>>28756036
It's gotten to the point that I honestly think it might be better that way. I mean, maybe if they give it to whoever wrote Top Bolt? That was pretty decent.

Odds are it's going to one of the "important" writers, and frankly after the shitshow of the last few seasons I really don't trust they can do proper justice to Celestia's character. The era when the subtlety and depth required to give her a real proper story is long gone from the show.
