I don't understand how anyone cares at this point. The episode was great but changelings were already ruined the minute they reformed Thorax, because after that there couldn't be any point to them feeding on love since they can just reform it. And I argued that fact here on /mlp/, and you know what some of you autists did?

Well, the point I was making is that although we've always solved everything with friendship bombs in MLP, the friendship bombs don't usually irrevocably change characters to be a fully opposite contradiction of their original selves. The bombs turned them back to normal, or into stone, or made them leave.

Talking horses isn't realistic in the first place, but talking horses that reverse their evolutionary function just because you suggested they try it is plain stupid. Why did they even eat love in the first place if it was only making them weak? Why would giving love make them more powerful? How come none of them tried giving love before? It was as simple as doing it and the whole hive was able to do it instantly.

I get what that anon was saying. It's a cartoon. It's not realistic. But this changeling thing is inconsistent, defeats their original purpose, opens up a half dozen plot holes, and leaves us with a villain who refuses to give love for no reason. "Because evil", I guess. Chrysalis and indeed all the changelings gain nothing by being the way they originally were.

I think a better way of putting it isn't to say it's "unrealistic", but to say there's no way I can plausibly suspend my disbelief. I am unconvinced that any of this shit could work, even in the context of a fantasy show for kids.
