It's like claiming phantom menace was good because Lucas made it. If you look in MLP early designs and concept art book, Faust pitch was shit and they had to bring in actual concept artist to fix her garbage. Ponies were drawn with sharp, jagged angles copied from Dexters Lab, not soft curves we have today, 5/6 out of main six were fucking pink, and the other colours they had were ugly and clashed with pink and each other. Also, all these posters going "season 1 is the best!!" I assume to be newfags seeking validation. I'm from the early fandom, before season 2 started and I remember Best Night Ever being bashed for it's lackluster effort. Wasn't a fan myself. I even remember many S1 episodes being lackluster. One common comment I heard was people telling others to skip the season 1 premire. The owl episode too, that was a bad episode but now all these season 1 validators praise season 1 and god forbid someone critises the episodes.

Wanna know what is really ruining the fandom and the board? This ideaology of season 1 being the "oldfag bible" and anyone against it is a heretic or a newfag. I'm honestly sure it's the other way around. Yet it's taboo to speak out and anyone with a different voice needs to be shunned. That in itself ruins everything. Season 1 is not "protected from critism" as many people like to say.
