The budget is huge in comparison, they've put all their best writers on it, upgraded their animation program and even brought in at least one really talented animator (Michel Gagne who worked on The Land Before Time and All Dogs Go to Heaven among other things).

Pony movie next year is going to absolutely blow all the EqG movies out of the water in terms of quality if the budget, time allotted and people working on it are anything to go by.

The reason we can have this is BECAUSE it's the only main series pony movie made so far, if they made a pony movie every year then every movie they made would get shitty budgets and green or mediocre writers.

It's a quality over quantity thing. You can either have one REALLY good pony movie, or 5 really average ones.

That's actually a very good point. I'd still prefer that eqg never existed, but if they were all pony movies they would probably have still been kind of mediocre. Of course no matter how disappointing they could be it would still have been better than having all this eqg shit plaguing /mlp/.

That's not quite right. Equestria Girls exists so Hasbro would have something to compete with Mattel's Monster High dolls, If EqG didn't exist, then Hasbro would probably make another high school doll/cartoon series to compete with it, probably Jem.

Though, I think whatever this would be would end up as a TV series because I'm pretty sure the only reason why EqG exists as movies is because Hasbro thought it'd be too confusing having two tv shows on the same network of the same franchise using the "same" characters airing at the same time.
