I really don't think Starlight Glimmer's villain origin story, nor her redemption, is that unrealistic. Her relapses and confusion with normal social interaction actually make sense. It's really interesting to see because she's sort of halfway between Sunset Shimmer and Discord in terms of redemption/regret of previous evil nature.

I don't know how I'd feel about her as a main character but I enjoy the episodes she is in.
