Her parents are a fencer and a pony who wears a sweater with a scarf who has a cutie mark in pearl necklaces, you expect them to know the difference between an archaeologist and a paleontologist?
>>28394258

The writers are bad at their jobs...we've known this since S1 E1.
Hasbro/DHX didn't hire good writers, they hired cheap writers.
This is because the show does not have to be good.
All the show has to do is shill plastic crap to 6 year olds.
Hasbro doesn't invest more resources than it has to.
So they get writers who don't know the difference between archaeology & paleontology.

EVERY child with access to TV and a library knows about dinosaurs and paleontology. Now they've got the internet too.
>>28394263
>you expect them to know the difference
This is a reasonable answer, but it's still sloppy writing.

I think her parents are supposed to be dense.

I knew what a paleontologist was when I was five years old.Always wanted to be a paleontologist as a kid. Now I'm an adult and I wipe old people's butts in a nursing home for a living. Feelsbadman.[/spoiler

>wanted to be a paleontologist
Yeah, that was my 'when I grow up' thing too.
Even if we didn't go all the way and end up working at the AMNH I think it's a beneficial thing for kids to be interested in. It connects to nearly every other scientific field...and memorizing all those names when I was 5 years old gave me more knowledge of Latin than most kids had.
I still keep up on it. Can't even look at a modern bird without thinking 'dinosaur'.

I can't say I truly lost interest. I did manage to amass a fairly enviable fossil collection, including some pretty rare stuff like a dinosaur skin imprint. When it came to school though I opted for a pretty worthless major, unfortunately. I do consider my current work situation to be temporary though, so I'm still hoping to break into a STEM career and keep fossils (and rocks/minerals) as a hobby.
