The writers are bad at their jobs...we've known this since S1 E1.
Hasbro/DHX didn't hire good writers, they hired cheap writers.
This is because the show does not have to be good.
All the show has to do is shill plastic crap to 6 year olds.
Hasbro doesn't invest more resources than it has to.

Yeah, that was my 'when I grow up' thing too.
Even if we didn't go all the way and end up working at the AMNH I think it's a beneficial thing for kids to be interested in. It connects to nearly every other scientific field...and memorizing all those names when I was 5 years old gave me more knowledge of Latin than most kids had.

I still keep up on it. Can't even look at a modern bird without thinking 'dinosaur'.

I can't say I truly lost interest. I did manage to amass a fairly enviable fossil collection, including some pretty rare stuff like a dinosaur skin imprint. When it came to school though I opted for a pretty worthless major, unfortunately. I do consider my current work situation to be temporary though, so I'm still hoping to break into a STEM career and keep fossils (and rocks/minerals) as a hobby.
