It will work for most websites. Multiple slashes after domain name are illegal and are "converted" to one. For some reason browsers do not normalise such errors in address bar.

Of course it works. Why wouldn't it? All boards have bunch of slashes in them. The number of slashes show the quality of the board. The more slashes there are, the more autistic that board is. Just look at the political board, it has thousands of slashes.
