Equestria Girls: The Legend of Everfree Chapter Book is out in some stores and I was able to snag it early, so let's take a look and see what we have.
Sorry in advance if the scans look kinda shitty, but it's servicable I think.

As much as I liked the book, I felt the battle between Gloriosa and the Mane 7 was a bit rushed. It seemed like a generic pony up transformation and boom! The battle is over. I guess you can't expect there to be too many details in the book. Also nothing was ever mentioned about them recieving crystal wings and such. Sunset is better than fluttershy.
Sunset's powers are at least good for Intelligence gathering; she can touch a villain who's not openly acting yet, like the sirens, and figure out pretty much everything they're going to do.
Fluttershy's ability is SHIT. If this was equestria, there would at least be Monsters for her to summon; As is, she's got everyday normal animals here in a team that includes Party Gambit, The flash, and She-hulk.

The mane six aren't fighting GLORY, they're just throwing shit at the VINES. So its not really a proper fight scene, its just them flailing at the vines.
It'll be less of them trying to fight a super villain and more of them just trying to contain some out of control plants.

Well, it makes sense in the book, as their goal is to protect the campers as the number one priority, not stop gloriosa.
So they're trying to find a way to break through the barrier to get the other campers out, since they're heroes first and foremost.

This works for most of them, its just that fluttershy stands out as being useless is all.
No one's arguing that AJ is weaker or stronger than rarity, or that RD is weaker or stronger than AJ after all. All of them besides Sunset and Fluttershy's powers have a good use that fits in well with the others, its just fluttershy and Sunset are the oddman out.
Sunset You can at least expect will get a God mode form at some point because she's the writer's pet, but fluttershy has no such expectation.

You guys seemed to have started an all-out nerd war.
What I see to be happening is they are obviously setting up something big.
The characters seem to have basic and weak forms of their powers. Like a new character of an RPG. Through use, they will get stronger and the powers will get better.
RD will be able to have faster reflexes and thought processes.
FS will be able to do some Garukk Wildspeaker type summoning.
Twiggles will get a better grip on her midnight powers and control them rather than let them control her.
AJ will get stronger and more resilient
Rarity will be able to create larger, more durable shields
Pinkie Pie is a glass cannon so she will probably just get more control over her explosions and have stronger ones
Sunset will get a better control over her mind powers and grow to Professor Xavier strength.
IMO, they are building up to the release of an EG show. Through that, they can show them gaining control over their powers and explore the world more.
I really think they should start distancing themselves from the MLP name and market it as an androgynous show like PPG and include more prominent male characters like TS and Flash.
IMO, there is a large chance of this happening.

They didn't "drop" twilight as replace her with a human version. That's not them dropping twilight as a character, its shifting who she is, in the same way that the Human versions of the other 5 are there to be their pony equivilents.
As for why they wanted to use Human twilight now, that's pretty freaking obvious: It simplifies things DRASTICALLY, since they no longer need twilight to constantly be running back and forth from dimension to dimension, and simplifies things since this is the human twilight and has her own ties to this world now, without equestrian baggage.

I don't think you quite know what you're talking about. It's not as if they had a sudden interest in bronybux, they're just always expanding their market. They made chibi EQG action figures rather than dolls, a Sunset toy was inevitable, just like how there is always a Sunset doll in the movie lines, and occassional a doll in the mainline. Being a waifu has nothing to do with it.

Rainbow Dash is liscensed the most, she's honestly the most recognizable character of the brand in Hasbro's eyes. Hasbro's office in Providence, last I saw, has a banner of EQG Rainbow and Pinkie. So it looks like as far as they're concerned, Twilight isn't as big.

Pinkie, rainbow dash and twilight are the "big three" of the group.
rainbow dash has a very eye catching color scheme and has cross gender appeal, at least in her pony form, due to her focus on action.
She's probably alot harder to market to boys as a human though since she kind of lacks her life goal of joining the military and all that.
Pinkie appeals to the spongebob crowd who just like ADHD autistic morons for their laughs.
