I asked my doctor about it and he let me try it; which is where I'm at now. But not until after 2 weeks of being inpatient. Before the ECT is even worse. They send you down to the room where they do it about 2 hours early so they can get you ready and all you can do is lay in the hospital bed with no one to talk to except the nurse assigned to you.

I have treatment-resistant major depressive disorder which why the ECT didn't work for me but that doesn't mean they don't do it. It is not all that uncommon for people to come in every 6 months or so to have another set of sessions due to the relapse.

You only lose your short term memory temporarily(about 2-3 months after sessions are complete) and I originally did it to see if it would work. After my doctor said it wasn't; I only continued having them done up to the 12 sessions for insurance purposes. It won't go towards me getting disability unless I have all 12 sessions done.
