Changelings are too different to count as a race.

Zebras = Blacks
Saddle Arabians = Muslims
Ponies = Whites
Griffons = Jews

Sadly, the went full kid's show this time.

The plot was:
1. Exposition - Spike, the brave and glorious - Spike is cool kid with "reputation"
2. Conflict - Friends Thorax - Gets a new friend that other's don't approve of.
3. Rising Action - Hang out in the city - Spend time together, have fun
4. Climax - He get's caught and betrays Thorax - Friend spergs, Spike doesn't stand up for his friend, bad spike!
5. Falling Action - Apologizes - Apologize to your new friend!
6. Resolution - Stands up to others - Stand up to your friend and everybody can be friends!

The problem is that a changeling is not just some weird pony or zebra like Zecora, but an actual threat. I'm fine with the Zecora episode being anti-prejudice or anti-racism, but I'm really pissed that they butchered the changeling spy setup for this shitty plot.

I'm not racist, nor have I said anything racist if that's what you want to imply. Thinking the changeling is "just different" is just lazy. Thorax said he was part of the invasion and totally understands that the hostility is not just some kind of misunderstanding or prejudice.

No, it's not my own headcanon, changelings need love from others to survive. I get that Thorax wants to be a good guy, but he's starving. And if he doesn't make any friends, he has to get his love in another way. It's in his nature.

And because there hasn't been a friendly changeling before, but rather an attack of a changeling army, it's perfectly reasonable to assume that a changeling is a threat.

I get the #NotAllChangelings thing, but other than Muslims, the peaceful Changeling is the exception!

If you compare the Changelings to the bugs from Robert A. Heinlein's Starship Troopers it makes sense.
