He used those characters as a point of reference, not as an ultimate influence. A lot of the videos people take displeasure in near the end of his pony career are highly experimental. He didn't want to perfectly adhere to the mold of a pony analyst anymore and was testing to see if people would comprehend him or continue support. Some people obviously could not.

Well, he seems pretty sad, kinda lonely, probably doesn't have many friends. Probably was unpopular in school, developed social interaction difficulties. Smokes now so he obviously doesn't care much about his health, somewhat out of shape, probably exacerbated by the smoking. Probably has a poor diet as well, probably has a lot of stress that is self inflicted either by mental issues or delusion of pressure. His appearance is usually fairly unkept, greasy and uncombed/straggly hair. Pasty skin, probably lack of outdoor activity. He takes his videos with the upmost importance implying they hold a deep sentiment to him. I would speculate they're his release from his probably crappy life, along with smoking. He probably doesn't make enough YouTube money to survive so he probably has a minimum wage job that increases his anxiety, stress and depency on smoking. He probably has one or two irl friends that he holds dearly and if he lost either it would be the same as losing a family member but even worse since he has mental illness and reoccurring depression. He probably has many internet acquaintances but deep down he knows they're not real friends and he feels more alone thinking about this.

That's my take on him.

They were pretty dumb from what I remember, but being autistic about his pony persona and harping on about bullshit no one else cares about sounds pretty normal for him desu. Well, his anime channel has been steadily growing, and he currently makes enough money from Patreon that he can afford to pay someone to edit all of his videos. His parents are moving out and leaving him the house, which he cohabits along with his two brothers (so little reason to be lonely). And he has recently been talking excitedly about plans to move in his close circle of online friends and work with them in person on videos.
