This. I don't understand why you have to be a Faustfag or a Hasdrone. Every single season has bad episodes and GOAT episodes. S1 had Owl's Well, S2 had MMDW, S3 had MMC. Half of the board hated Newbie Dash, which is one of the gems of this season. "Criticism" isn't about talking "it's shit". It's about objectively highlighting good and bad sides of something - an episode in this case. On /mlp/ the actual criticism surfaces once in a millenia, what you call criticism is plain hate posting with no thoughts put into it. Its value is negative and doesn't makes anything better for anyone.
Meanwhile, I am perfectly aware of the weak sides of any episode I like - it comes down to the question of whether or not I want to go batshit crazy about that, and I normally don't.

I actually think /mlp/ has a fairly decent determination on good or bad episodes, as a whole.
Sure a lot of the voices of the crazy batshit episode haters drown out the sane anons who fairly critique the show, but you have to look past that
For example, as a whole, a vast majority us us hate MMDW, SAYS, JFSK, ect; and that is telling of an ACTUAL bad episode, when a majority of people dislike it, it would be for example a 2-3/10 on /mlp/’s average, and we dislike them because that are BAD episodes, for legit reasons, not because we're all hating on the episodes for no reason
Newby dash is just an episode with mixed opinions, for example i actually think newby dash is a weak episode of the season, and i could give you legitimate reasons why i think so, but a lot of people like it, about as much that dislike it, making the rating on average, for example an 6/10
And /mlp/ has decent determination as to what’s a good episode, examples being we most all like magic duel, amending fences, and pinkie pride

/mlp/ as a whole loves "Best Night Ever" which is objectively the worst finale of the whole show (granted it's a good episode though).
/mlp/ as a whole hates MMC to the death, while it's an objectively one of the best episodes of the show and one of the best finales out there.
/mlp/ as a whole _hated_ first Equestria Girls. When first EQG was relesed, literally all the reaction it got was negative. Meanwhile, first EQG was while clunky, still a brilliant product and a precious love-letter from the staff to the fandom. Some people have learned to appreciate it now, meanwhile others who think that opinion of /mlp/ is worth shit still ignore the whole spin-off without even trying it out themselves.

If we talk about opinions here, there's only two episodes of MLP that can be considered "bad" "The Crystal Empire" part 1 and part 2. That was the only moment in the whole show, when I had a thought "might it be that MLP has lost its appeal?". I have never asked myself this question since then, and I love it. Also, these two episodes weren't terrible, they just were below everything else.
MMDW, SAYS, JFSK aren't inherently bad either, contrary to the opinion you would normally hear on /mlp/. All of them presented interesting concepts and had a lot of redeeming qualities. There were some major problems with these episodes and because people refused to even try looking past these problems, they saw absolutely nothing good there.
JFSK is a very important episode actually. It was a case of exploring different way of building the episode as it was the first case of direct continuity in the show outside of openers/finales (and no, Ticket Master wasn't that).
Thinking /mlp/ is any good at judging episodes is a bad idea. Opinion of /mlp/ is too much affected with elitism, autism, memes, doomsaying and nostalgia. Of course if an episode is objectively underwhelming and literally everyone thinks so - opinion of /mlp/ won't be too far off. We are a mass of people after all.

I actually disagree with most of /mlp/ here, and don't think it was abysmal. There were pacing issues, but it managed to squeeze it into a 22 minute episode fairly well by using music. It'd have been better as a two parter, but you take what you get.
Equestria Girls was literally made so that hasbro could contend with Barbie and Monster High. No other reason.
And make no mistake, it was terrible. Rainbow Rocks slightly redeemed EQG, but there's no defending the first movie.

Nostalgic "first time meeting" recreation, awesome music and finally some choreography, tons of nods to the fandom, fairly long and complex plot for the target audience and the movie's length, designs that proved themselves as actually good, given how people like it now when initial roughness have faded away. EQG was good. People were scared by the change and went in denial. Then they proceeded to stating that RR have redeemed initial EQG fails, while actually RR have done nothing in that account - it was a product of roughly the same quality with pros of having better fleshed out villains, better designs and larger amount of good songs; and with cons of having much plainer and less impressive plot, weaker atmosphere and overall impact. The reason of RR big success wasn't the fact it got good. It was due to awesome marketing done by Hasbro plus the fact people got used to multi-hued humans instead of horses.
