Do you not believe any of the mane cast have even more family members? Why would they ever be mentioned casually in a 22 minute episode that they have no effect on?

I know this is a common complaint ever since Shining, but I thought it was a dumb complaint then and still think it is now.

I'm sure Twilight has a cousin, probably a lot of them, why would they need to be brought up in the show unless they were going to serve some purpose in that very episode?

Seriously though the Mane Six all knew about him beforehand at least. More than can be said for Shiny (IIRC).
