After reading this I'm kind of leaning towards the Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds variant. Maybe a story about a bun singlehandedly dismantling the bun empire to get revenge on The Beloved Father. With a little bit of inspiration from kill la kill and gurren lagann, in the form of exponentially escalating power levels, a fair bit of stylish absurdity, a distant and mysterious villain who is dramatically more powerful than the protagonist is initially, and possibly an unexpected dramatic change in status quo half way through the story.

Scratch that, I'm caught up. Sorry, I was burnt out on the whole FF series after the clusterfuck of a plot that was FF8, and a more or less weirder plot that was FF9. Truth be told, I probably would enjoy the older retro games for the story alone even if the gameplay wasn't up to par with today's standards. Though 9 did have Freya and Vivi, so that's alright.

I was never a fan of the PSX and later FFs. FF7 has probably the best battle customization system of any FF, but the pacing was atrociously bad. FF8 was kind of a clusterfuck story-wise.

Not tons, just enough for every known satyr to have the required parent, plus a few more. Those percentages were really rough, it's probably more like 99% ponies. And regarding tearing down the empire, it's probably more correct to say taking out the ruler(s?) and preventing them from using the bunnies as a tool to manipulate and take over equestria. The endgame will be a definite good end, assuming that the anons involved don't decide to take things on a dark path. The bun empire is a system where buns are pressured and conditioned to reproduce and spread the influence of a sinister unknown matriarch. Every bun is required to obey her elders, or else be removed from the family.

That's only the prelude to the matriarch's plan, she's been working for decades on something big. Or possibly she's a puppet too. I haven't finished working that out. Not sure how much to share, but I've been furiously writing down ideas for the last five or six hours. I should go to sleep, but I'm having fun.

The MC is a bun who spoke and thought too freely as a child. As she grew older it became clear she wouldn't follow instructions well and was banished from the clan. At the point the story starts she's living on the street because her house just burned down, and someone stole her wallet. She also recently lost her job for something that wasn't her fault, again. Basically other buns are being told to sabotage her life so that she either becomes a statistic or begs to be let back in to the family. Neither of those things happen, not exactly.

It's in the future, 150 years to be exact. Equestria isn't too different, higher quality of life and better technology. Ponies are the same, although the elements of harmony and the mane six have been mostly forgotten, thanks to an unusually long period of peace.

I did some math, assuming equestria starts with 30m citizens, and has a population growth rate of 1%, the population should be around 134.5m, and that would give plenty of time for 1 bun to become over a million without incest. Assuming 9 months pregnancy and litters of six or so girls. 30m seems a pretty reasonable starting point for a small developed country, but an unchanging growth rate is stupidly unrealistic, but fuck trying to estimate changes in growth rate.

Can i get opinions on the time thing? I'm a bit worried about that.

How about instead of the traditional 'like parent like child', or the mundane and potentially edgy 'i hate how nice the world/my parents are', we just have a satyr who's a sociopath/psychopath/extreme sadist?

Most villains are redeemable, the exceptions are the ones who are innately fucked up or inhuman. But that's not really cute or fun, and it's arguably very edgy.

In my opinion the best kind of villain is one who thinks they're the hero, that what they're doing is for the 'Greater Good' or whatever. The opposite of that being someone who convinces others to do things in their name, without believing in the ideal themselves. Eg Mao Zedong, N.Korea's beloved father, and hitler probably.

So how about a satyr who is the child of a princess, and has a unique perspective of equestria. They see a bigger picture, and they think it's broken. That the world is stagnating in the peace, or that they're all wasting their lives making friends and all that.

They don an alter ego or a disguise, and start to make changes. Starting small at first, maybe causing a scenario which offends offends a visiting foreign dignitary, then working up to a full scale war between nations.

The hard part is unless a villain is insane, inhuman, or badly written, they're potentially relateable or empathetic. Objectively evil isn't realistic, although i suppose you could argue that people like hitler or any given zealot who killed people for an idea are objectively evil. That said the zealot is still very human. They're doing what they think is right, it's a very emotional thing.

People don't often fit into a neat category like good or evil. If someone asked you if you're good or evil, most people would automatically say yes, not necessarily because they believe it, but because it's expected of them.

That went off track, hope it wasn't a waste of time.

Oh also, i think generally people will enjoy a character more if they can empathize with them. Hence why people like kylo ren.

I agree a villain can be edgy and well written, i was trying to explain why people like relateable villains.

I think the problem with a monstrous and objectively evil villain is that it's difficult to make them anything more than a villain. The entire character can be summed up as a list of superficial traits. In a lot of ways they're a plot device rather than a character.

The only reason i think this is a problem is that satyrs and the interest in them is fuelled by characters, as well as how they interact with each other. This thread isn't a plot driven narrative or somewhere to discuss a plot driven show or comic, it's used to discuss the satyrs.

How do you give any character development to a two dimensional objectively evil villain without making them relateable? That's a genuine question.

What place does a villain with no character traits beyond objectively evil and a mixture of superficial details have in a thread where discussion is driven by characters? To be relevant it must either develop a character, or there needs to be a detailed story for it to reside in.

An Objectively evil character isn't interesting if they're just floating around in limbo. Without a plot, they're just a psychopath or a criminal. They're not well written, they're the kind of edgy which you look at and feel secondhand embarrassment.

You don't need to dick ride a story or lore to have a good villain or feel shame. Sometimes; you just need them to be around enough in story that you know they deserve to be beaten.

The xenomorph isn't a villain, it's a plot device. It's a tool for progressing the story.

Frieza and Tirek were characters in a way, but they're pointless once you take them out of their narrative.


My point was that a villain like the ones you're describing has no place in satyr threads. Not unless they are given a purpose, that is to say that someone writes a story and uses them as a villain in that story.

This thread is driven by characters, it is essentially a limbo where characters float. There's no shared coherent and definitive story or plot, it's just ponies, satyrs, and individual pockets of fanfiction. Plus board culture and assumptions and implications from the show.

The kind of villain you want needs a story. The satyrs don't have a common story. You need to make a story for this villain otherwise they are pointless.

A can opener is only relevant when someone needs to open a can. Create a story, then create the villain you want. It doesn't have to be a masterpiece, it can be something simple like X Y and Z satyrs are always fighting W satyr because W satyr is an asshole.

How about this. Tirek satyr who exists to fuck with the satyrs of the princesses, and wants to steal their power.

If you played ff13, you'd probably notice it is very "hallway" like for a noticeable portion of it. Like with FF10, they traded gameplay for story and cutscenes. Except unlike ff10, the trade was much more... Annoying. Getting rid of "fun" to tell a story; THEIR story. And they made sure to tell it to you, and that you better pay attention. See that mug? That's the villain's mug! But not THE the villain. It was a giant gathering of what most westerners complain about jrpgs. Yes; a story AND a villain with depth are great, bur when you focus too hard on it and trade the fun for story, well, you end up as being called one of the worst main series ff games. I think there is one misconception here. I like villains with depth, I can appreciatte them, but when you are surrounded by them and when "oh, but they aren't EVIL" is shoved in your face constantly; you get to missing what was there. Take all these "strong powerful female characters" that are coming out of the woodworks now. Where it feels more like an obligation and is done poorly, and even if it is done right; the over saturation has ruined the taste. "Too mamy cooks" you know? So, yeah, I want a simple villain. Only because there are too many "character" villains now... Well, rather, people are trying too hard to make them relatable, likeable, or understandable that it comes off as pretentious. Dealing with "But my daughter lost her life because of these monsters; now they must pay" too often is tiring. It's not that I hate villains with good stories, with development; it's that media has become oversaturated with them. Least in my eyes. Or maybe I watch too many movies, read too mamy graphic novels, and play too many games.
