My dog passed away yesterday. Or rather, the family decided to have him put down because he was steadily declining and his quality of life was not going to improve. With the last dog I had to say goodbye to we waited so long she ended up dying on the floor of a vet's office gasping for breath in front of us and it was awful. We didn't want to have another dog suffer that way again. I have never seen euthanization before but I stayed with him through the whole thing. It was in it's own way better, but it was just as saddening. It was peaceful at the least. He didn't struggle or fight, his head nodded and then he was gone/ It was like watching someone blow out a candle. It was terrifying in a way because I have a certain fear of death and it was so quick and unceremonious and then it was over forever. I miss him. He was 12 and I grew up with him as a puppy. He was always stubborn and grumpy but he was a good dog. He was a really good dog /mlp/.

I was diagnosed with depression when I was fourteen, but really it's been with me as long as I can remember. I first thought about killing myself in the third grade. I thought it was just a normal thing. It comes and goes in terms of severity. Usually I handle myself pretty well, all things considered.

I couldn't give you a "why" it just seems like a bit of my wiring, my temperament. There was never any real traumas in my childhood assuming there aren't any repressed memories. Seems like I just see the bad before the good and draw all the unpleasant conclusions that seem so apparent but are overlooked by everyone else.

I never tied anything for real, but there was this one time where I found a bottle of codeine syrup and chugged the whole thing without even knowing the dosage. I didn't want to kill myself per se, but I wouldn't have really minded at that particular moment. I haven't had any real suicidal ideation in a while now, which is nice.

Don't know if I'm depressed or not, never went to a doctor about it.

But I've been feeling like shit every day for the past year and have been considering suicide for the past few months now.

One time I was close to just throwing myself out of the window. I feel like the only thing stopping me is the fact that my parents would just blame themselves for my actions.

Don't really have a particular reason for feeling like this. Everything in life just feels boring and pointless to me even though I've tried nearly nothing what it offers. I can't help but think that it's not worth going through another day.
