Honestly, I was working under the assumption magic would function for the Changelings here. Catch is, there's no indication it would be particularly valuable to the Changelings. They can turn into a pony, which doesn't help them that much. As they are invading Earth alone in OP's situation, there isn't even the risk of innocent ponies being caught in the crossfire. They can do that slime-spit thing, but that's only useful at close range and takes a moment for them to work up, putting them at a disadvantage compared to a firearm-carrying opponent.

Even including the Changeling-resistance AU, there's no indication the Changelings have any kind of ranged method of attack whatsoever. They're entirely melee opponents.

Charging against an enemy armed with automatic (hell, even semiautomatic) weapons is still going to be murderous for the Changelings. They might be able to overwhelm some third-world shitholes by sheer force of numbers, but the casualties are going to be so lopsided it's not even funny.
