Well, I was under the impression the ponies of the show are about half the size of a RL horse. So if we scale him like that, he is pretty huge, you could not take a elephant down with most normal small arms, even with a huge elephant gun you won't put him down for the count immediately, they are going to thrash around a lot more often than not. I have hit a Raccoon in the head with a 22 round, scale wise that it way bigger than what I would be dealing with in this scenario, and it tossed around for a good fifteen seconds until I got it a second time.

But what about eddy currents and Lenz's law? Those act to only slow down all conductors and never accelerate them, which is all he needs to stop your bullets. Maybe use diamond bullets instead if you can afford to get someone to make them just for you.
