Ha yeah, it's the through-the-roof saccharine levels they sing it at. I always turn my volume down for it, blast most of the theme, then turn it down again for "my very best FRIEEEEEEEENDSSSSSSSSS [twinkly noises]"

I will never fully understand why the opening is so disliked. It's fine. I like g1's intro too. It's a show about little ponies, what do you expect?

To be fair to them though... it's not to my taste but the way they sing the trademark has been there forever, it's part of the MLP brand/identity. To get rid of it would be like... I don't know.. I'm probably being a bit British here but changing the theme tune to Coronation Street.
