The problem is though, that despite being six seasons in, aside from the two books that might be canon, we have still not really been given much in the way of actual information within the show regarding the nature of Alicorns, so everything about them just tends to be speculation until it's concretely stated in-show which is why so many people get upset when something about Alicorn nature is mentioned because it tends to divert from the head-canon they've built over the years, helped by what sporadic bits of officially licensed products they can get their hands on that hold relevant information, only for all of it to be threatened by one or two throw-away lines in the show that might indicate otherwise and go against the version they've built up in their heads to be absolute fact

The show isn't about building lore or sharing a story, it's not a documentary. It's a fantasy world that someone is showing me, and what i do about it is my problem.
It's like when reading a book, you can imagine a character with different hair color than in the book and no one will be mad about it.
If i say that for me this show ended along with s2, it ended for me. You may consider something a canon, for me the original story is finished. And it's only my opinion, my head and my story. Because when you're told a story it becomes yours as much as anyone elses. You may do with it what you want, as long as its in your head.

the equestria origin/christmas episode and the diary of the two sisters established that unicorns were the ones who moved the sun and the moon before Celly was there for them, the granny smith flashback episode further supports this by showing a smaller, less developed canterlot which implies its existence being barely a few decades older than ponyville, which was at least 100 years old since Granny was alive to see it being founded
