The biggest difficulty seems that you would need to have a rock solid idea of each character's personality. If you didn't it'd completely lose its appeal.

You'd also have to write a million letters in character because no two letters could be the same.

Absolutely. It would need to be reworded and thought out then you would need to come back to it and read it aloud to yourself.

You definitely need to be able to write differently for each pony though.

I think you could base the writing style off of the way they wrote in Amy's book. I distinctly remember Pinkie having a different style. I can't remember how close to actual writing they looked like though. Maybe they just used a different font.

I'm sure if you kept it on the DL you could probably sneak by for a while. I mean doing it as a side gig I can't imagine pulling off more than 2-3 letters a week. Is Hasbro really going to C/D you over $100 a month before expenses? I feel like they've got bigger fish to fry.

And worse case you could do what people suggested and not use character names, just heavily imply it's a certain character.


I'm also just thinking of overhead expenses. Paper, crayons, stickers, etc. would be dirt cheap. Stamps would be a little more, especially if you're sending overseas. And if things got rolling big time you'd probably want to snag yourself a mailbox so you aren't giving your home address to tons of people.

That would be the downside of it. Unless you were in a roll and got really good at writing the characters I doubt you could do more than a letter a week without keeping the quality high enough.

The actual cost of physical material would be cheap, just need the investment in penmanship. You could probably just get a girl with great, diverse writing skills, type the letters up and give her a cut of the profit. Keep a fake letter on file to remind her of what the character's writing is like so the letters stay consistent.

It's a damn shame my penmanship is like one step above legible and I can't do anything but my handwriting.

I don't know what it is, but I think in general girls saw it as creative expression, i.e. art in a sense, and want to get it "just right" in school.
