As other Anons have said, I use the show as my own personal escape route.

When I watch the show, I don't have to think about my own miserable life. I can just be immersed in another world for a little while. Then it's back to the real world and my many responsibilities.

I feel that I must expand on this a little here.

I am a Britfag, and I am a father. I have one son already, and another on the way. My children are my focus, and I will do anything within reason for them. However, fatherhood is stressful, as is my chosen career. Seeing as I don't drink alcohol anymore, and don't indulge in narcotics- I initially used the show to alleviate that stress.

My misery at present is mainly caused by my broken spine- I got run over back in July and can't work to provide for my family- as a man, it kinda makes me feel utterly worthless. To make it worse, I had healed up, only to fall down last week and break it again. 'This rather painful, as I'm sure you might guess...

I keep the misery away from my partner and son- they have no idea that I feel like this, and hopefully when I am totally healed again, the show can just go back to being a personal stress reliever.

As a native speaker, it's likely because when typing in your first language, you're translating thoughts directly to the screen, so you go very fast and don't really check for errors as much. An ESL speaker would have to work more slowly and deliberately to type out their post, so they'd spend more time checking for basic errors that native speakers would gloss over.
