Glimmer was literally this character that appeared out of nowhere, disappeared for an entire season. Acted like a dick in her return and destroyed Equestria several times, then after apologising and being nice for the whole of what, 3 minutes? Became the sudden mane 7.

Shimmer actually had proper character development, redemption and a proper personality and she's been put on the back burner and she no longer has a chance at being canon.
