Mostly speculation based on the huge mess of relations New Vegas became between the two of them. This video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6WyxVhFmnD0 explains a bit of it, but the guy is a huge Bethesda fanboy getting huge views for covering Fallout 4 info and claiming to be a "Fallout fan" yet only actually liked 3 before 4 came out, but I digress so his view on the matter is Bethesda can do no wrong and Obsidian somehow deserves what it gets because the publisher screwed them over on development time by pushing for an earlier release. Also of note is the MMO that Interplay was working on before Bethesda basically strong-armed the cancellation of that plus the rights to the franchise, keeping in mind that Interplay is the parent company of both Black Isle the studio that made the original Fallout games, and Obsidian which was comprised of several former Black Isle team members.

My >opinions aside, I was just pointing out potential reasons why Obsidian may never make another Fallout game. A lawsuit held against its parent company plus pressure put on them from the publisher over developing NV and failure to reach the metacritic score for the bonus (especially considering Obsidian has been struggling financially and could have used that money) must have caused some dissent between the two.
