G2 didn't have a cartoon, being an even bigger failure than G3. It got a pretty okay vidya I think, but that was it.

Not really, they went more or less the same route as G1 having some modern technology here and there but in an anachronistic fashion to help it better fit in the fantasy setting. Tales went full modern (at the time) and it just felt weird as a result.

I really should watch more of the original cartoon sometime. I liked the movie, the one with the witches and the Smooze.

And here's the second - art isn't as good as the first due to Hasbro not liking it resembling the Dungeons & Dragons cartoon in aesthetics as well as theme, but it's still a pretty good watch due mainly to the villains (which is often the case in the original series):
