Regardless, I'm not mad at anyone for thinking that Celestia is a goddess, or a chessmater, even if I think both are wrong. I have no business concerning myself with what you're thinking, unless you open up and invite me to. It's more, as I believe I've stated, that I find it annoying when people argue that their view must necessarily be the correct one. It's when they make a public cause out of their personal beliefs, and try to convert others to it, that I feel I'm freely able to say why I think it's a weak interpretation. I'd expect they find me annoying as well.

In making a story public you open it up to interpretation by the reader, by watching it they will naturally interpret what they see or read or hear as they will. Of course they can interpret it exactly the way the author intended but that isn't a guarrantee. Can. Meant. It's can till the author publishes their work.

I can't really get behind that. For something to be meant, there has to be someone that's meaning. Intent can only come from someone or something's intention.
But for many stories, texts and opinions, you don't want people to interpret it any way. It both can and will happen, but you as the author aren't intending it.

I'd say the act of publishing primarily only gives the intent for something to be experienced, and that the interpretation is rather just something enabled by the act of experiencing something. If you view publishing as communication, it doesn't have the possibility of interpretation as a goal, at least not unless it is intended by the communicator.
