Seems like another crystal pony situation: you have true crystal ponies, the ones that are born as such, with the geometric reflections and glossy coats even when not shiny, and then you have the magical effect that can be applied to any horse to make them look like a crystal pony, but they are only an imitation and have none of the natural traits.

Seems like there are "real" bathorses, who have the eyes and ear tufts, and then there are the ones that are just under an effect, who have only the wings
