Alright how about this

>The setting is post-earth/space war with mobile suits already established and the Gundam being the machine that won the feddies the war

>Present day federation is just dealing with straggler terrorist cells with one of their main bases housing the gundam in the hangar and collecting dust

>A bus of fresh from the academy rookies comes in, one of the new recruits is an autistic ensign- still in his teens who is super excited about mobile suits.

>First friend he makes is with an overweight vet who's seen some shit, but is otherwise a pretty okay guy and does double shift as the cafeteria chef.

>Supposedly the new recruits are to test out five NEW gundam prototypes to combat the most dangerous terrorist cell. Said terrorists get word of this and prepare to attack at dawn

>Daybreak comes and the base is under attack

>Fattie and autist find eachother. Autist heads for the hangar thinking he can save everyone with the old antique gundam

>Fattie tells him that thing opens up for nobody. Autist tries anyway and succeeds to get the cockpit hatch of the gundam to open

>Later a terrorist suicide bomber runs in and jihads autist before he can even get into the cockpit

>Final shot is of fattie holding autist's dismembered head in his hands and looking at the carnage outside

Satisfied?

Series follows a 2nd stringer pilot who is next in line to pilot titular mobile suit.

Jealousy develops into a plot to sabotage Hot Shot pilot to take his position.

Hot Shot is crippled before plan can be carried out, Protag gets his wish, but realizes he's not so great a pilot after all and flubs his first mission.

Rocky montage of him being trained by his former frenemy, Redemption by way of self sacrifice.

I'm not an expert on Gundam but have they ever done anything with the prototype RX-78?

Maybe do a story about the burnt-out old test pilot assigned to it having to step up to the plate and defend the project staff and their military attachment until they can fall back and safely evacuate the planet.

There is a prototype that lost pieces of it in test that was abandoned in an attack of the enemy forces, a group of civilians get this prototype and rebuild them to fight in guerrilla warfare and rebuilding shit and helping civilians all around.

A two protaganist story ala SEED.

One is a young hot shot pilot eager to fight and kill. By the end of the series, he fights only to end the war as he is tired of fighting and wishes for peace.

The other is a reluctant pilot, drafted to serve in the war. Her exceptional skills allowed her to pilot the Title Gundam ae part of special task force. By the end of the series, she becomes battle-crazed and seeks revenge for her mentor, killed by the first protagonist.

Both protagonist only meet in person at the end of the series, after the war ends.

Pretty simple, actually.

Final years of the Universal Century/before the beginning of the Dark History (who fucking knows whether Turn A or Greco happened first anymore). The Earth-moon Lagrange point space colonies, seeing the writing on the wall, turn into generation ships and bail. Their destination: Proxima Centauri, where legend has it a Gundam pilot from the earliest decades of the Universal Century had already sent a generation ship as part of his own plans to escape the coming ruin.

They get there, there's culture shock, there's casual interaction with aliens (once the descendants of Judau's colonists get the newcomers to come to terms with casual interaction with aliens being a thing that's happening now), there's tensions between the various groups and polities, it's all in good fun. >Opening of the One Year War
>The series begins with a peek into the quiet life of a village not far from the midwestern United States.
>Corn, soybeans, and other crops as far as the eye can see
>Our main character is the oldest son of a farmer. We first catch a glimpse of him using a smaller mobile worker to do some farm work. His best friend interrupts him when she arrives on the scene in her pickup truck. The two talk as she drives him around town.
>Many places seem newly devoid of life, the area is littered with empty shops and abandoned homes. The dust hasn't settled in many of them.
>"Y'know, my folks have been thinking about moving out east, with the rest of the refugees," she says to him.
>"Shit, how can they take you from the only home you've ever known-"
>"They're sayin' that they're headed out east. They're hittin' supply lines - weapons, gas - and food."
>"I know what they're sayin', I'm sayin' that I'll believe it when I see it. There's way better ways to head than this way."

>The Principality of Zeon has landed on the west coast of the United States
>In an effort to disrupt Federation supply lines, multiple Zeonic forces begin moving East across the continental United States, destroying food caravans and confiscating farmland.
>Eventually, the make their way to the MC's home town.
>His father refuses to turn over his land and Zeek goons beat the fuck out of him. The whole family is screaming and crying. The MC's younger brother runs out to save his dad and is immediately shot dead by a Zeon officer.
>His father is taken into custody, the MC's family is in a state of utter shock, disbelief, and horror.

>That night, the MC and his small rag-tag group of friends stage a Red Dawn style guerrilla attack on the Zeon forward operating base. His friends are picked off one by one, but the MC eventually makes his way to an empty Zaku-II.
>He escapes with the Zaku
>He keeps the Zaku the whole show.

I've seen this before and I somewhat agree with Miyazaki. An artist should observe from life and reflect any insight they glean back to their audience, not rely on an algorithm to make up for their lazy unwillingness to actually confront and learn from reality.
>>
>>15854491
You say that like I disagree.
>>
>>15849303

The series follows a small team of pilots, in an ensemble-cast story. The Gundam is, in this case, as much a propaganda symbol as it is a powerful fighting machine: Each pilot gets a chance to use the Gundam up until his death. Also, each successive pilot modifies the machine slightly.

So the first pilot uses the classic RX-78 look up until he's killed by an AP round. The next pilot prefers melee combat, and so wields twin beam sabers and goes for a close-quarter loadout. The guy after that prefers artillery, and so he has a (very cumbersome) Full Armor loadout.

At the end of the series, all of the pilots are dead except for the youngest, the ostensible narrator of the story. Now that it's his turn to pilot, he heads out into the firestorm that's (INSERT FINAL BATTLE HERE) with very little expectation that he'll survive.

Close in on a sentimental photo of the entire, mostly-deceased cast posing and clowning around the Gundam at the start of the war.

>>15854499
The one sane engineer on the development team will be modelled on Miyazaki.

How does the machine survive when the pilots don't?

The machine's a lot easier to repair than the pilots. It's also rebuilt each time.

Pretty much the original series except Amuro doesn't plot armor his way through and magically do everything right. Zakus double team the gundam before it even gets up and hack it to bits with their Heat Hawks. Amuro dies during this and we get a series about a tragic and pointless ass war that costs billions of lives and is won without the use of a teenage boy and his omnipotent giant robot.

The war could go either way. The point is we don't have a whiny, angsty ass boy that manages to do everything right from the first episode.
>>
>>15849303
ZZ Gundam.
The autistic teenage boy doesn't become the sole pilot of the titular mobile suit until halfway, and doesn't even steal the Zeta until the second episode.

Alternately, the original sequence of episodes for Victory Gundam where the Victory doesn't show up until episode 3.
>>
>>15855545
The ZZ shows up in episode 11, though
>>
>>15849303
Humans in deep space colonizing a planet that isn't earth. They are so deep in space that resource lines stop and they have to form their own new earth. Tech is still advanced but the niceties are kept for the upper classes. Mobile suits are a luxury only the best get. Factions exist and war is on the horizon. Battles in cities would be like colony attacks and battles outside the cities would be like space combat (no environment).

Some of the mechs would be old but worn down, some would be made from scrap, some would be kitbashes. Guerilla combat could be a thing. Mechanics would be like a grand blacksmith creating engineworks in a futuretech forge. Combat in mechs would be taught to the pilot and also his "support" unit on how to navigate combat as a unit. The mechs could be weakened (compared to other gundam shows) by having the tech timeword. The mech would need a support unit to scout areas so he doesn't get oneshot, lay traps to help him ensnare his enemy, use trackers and markers to help his aim. Battles would be won or lost on good tactical use of your rare mechs, but battles could range from skirmishes to full on rank and file fronts.

MC would be a guy with a normalish life in his 30s that is from a good enough mobile suit but doesn't care for the nobility lifestyle so enlists. Then war breaks out. he deals with surviving an international war, living as a "knight" when most others are in lesser gear. There would be political intrigue amongst the nobility as they parlay lands and spoils from war efforts. Interpersonal politics of the foppish nobility would move the masses.
>>
>>15855625
Okay, you got me there.
But ZZ still fits OP's requirements, as the titular mobile suit is not in Judau's hands in Episode 1. No mobile suit is, because episode 1 was that weird ass quiz show with Shinta and Qum identifying things.

Thinking the ShinGoji Gundam should be intelligent? And if so, how much?
>>
>>15856087
Intelligent enough that, in a similar manner to something with a psycommu system, it can respond to its user without the user actually being in the pilot seat or even particularly close to it.

However, due to whatever fuckery went into creating this unholy beast of alloy and non-euclidean geometry, some of the smarter scientists on the project worry the suit might slowly develop its own independent intelligence the more it absorbs information from a user's mind.

The endgame is the suit becoming alive and absorbing its user.

>Pitch me an ideal gandamu plot that doesn't involve an autistic teenage boy being the sole pilot of the titular suit by the end of the first episode.

Pilot is a morally questionable being who is well aware of it, and the bad things they do.
Preferably on Zeon side.

They have a cold facade and through the series they become more humane and more likeable and good, because of the self sacrificing actions of the antagonists, and realising the reality of the graphic atrocities Zeon commits through the OYW.

The series should depict the things done by Zeon from the character's POV. Being faced off as righteous and helpful to the spacenoid cause to slowly come to the point that the atrocities committed by the both sides are unjustifiable, to end up having the character retire or desert from the military.
>>
>>15856452
Also, MS is a Zaku and later the Zeon MS that become produced.
The character is a low ranking officer, preferably moving stations and deployment places as the war develops.

>Space pirate crew is off looting random ships in space when they end up boarding a ship with a weird crew and even weirder cargo. The ship's crew seem to have strange military tattoos and military training (that they use to hold off the boarding pirates for a while).
>When the pirates eventually takeover the ship, they find strange ship parts hidden among crates or regular supplies and even a experimental Gundam with a stealth mode and a core fighter mode.
>they take the gundam and abandone the ship, the ship's crew give pursuit and the pirates blown them to kingdom come.
>they report their findings (minus the Gundam, that they decide to keep) the Imperial Goverment of Earth (the oppresive earth goverment), since they have colaborated before as corsairs.
>The Imperial Military takes their evidence and concludes that their enemies are probably stealthly creating an armada and a new war will break out soon.
>The Imperial Military then entrusts our Pirates with a secret mission, find a Weapons Scientist that has recently disappeared. He was last seen around a bunch of unsavory characters that are suspected to be Space Pirates, so our crew is considered to be the best people for the job since they could more easly access Pirate hangouts and be aware of rumors spreading among there numbers.
>Are the two situations, the smuggled parts and the missing scientist linked? Will finding him help stop the war, and shoukd the war be stopped? Why was the scientist so willing to disappear with the pirates in the first place? And does our little crew have any chance to help save the galaxy from total war, or are they just pawns in a larger plan?

>Around that time a military contractor has developed the first mobile suits from early construction worker models. One shipment goes missing, secretly stolen by Gaiabound
>"Supplied" to space colonies, who led by plants from the cult declare independence and wage war on the Federation

If I were telling this story I think I'd sidestep that cliche entirely and have a qualified adult assigned as the pilot.

If this was being made by the Japanese, I'm like 99% certain it'd be another "gifted teenager" behind the wheel.
>>
>>15857164
>Its captain, Noah Salvadore, gets into a heated argument with the Federation's prime minister over how suspicious this whole campaign is. Kuzey overheard and accidentally pieces together that this cult is controlling the war in secret. He swears vengeance and forces his three friends to swear with him to find a way to make the Federation and Gaiabound pay.
>Decades pass and the friends have gone their separate ways. The war ended with all the colonies annihilated and the space program permanently discontinued, an "idyllic" Earth-based government now rules with Gaiabound holding the leash, pursuing its agenda in secret.
>Kuzey gave up his chance at a normal life and became an assassin who tries to annihilate the cult by murdering its leaders. During an assassination attempt on the prime minister, he is foiled by the growing presence of mobile suits and is sent running. He is nearly captured before being saved by a beautiful mysterious woman named Melissa, who evades the Feds.
>She introduces herself to Kuzey as the representative of Newtype, a secret organization who intends to expose Gaiabound to the world, but needs the help of capable individuals who are willing to soak themselves in blood. Kuzey volunteers, not caring for his own fate so long as vengeance is granted.
>He is introduces to the small crew Melissa leads in her resistance cell, and with their aid stages an operation to steal one of thirteen experimental super mobile suits intended to establish permanent martial dominance for Gaiabound. They are called Gundams.
>Kuzey is ordered to steal the most protagonist like of the Gundams, the G-01 Pioneer, but he instead steals the G-11b, dubbed the "Yeoman", a skirmisher/sniper unit more suited to his tastes, and ends up doing battle with another Gundam pilot from the Federation unit they were meant for. Unbeknownst to him this pilot is his old friend Amir.
>>
>>15857190
>After escaping, Kuzey begins to work with Newtype to destroy Gaiabound, but soon learns Newtype has its own agenda, and as he digs deeper finds its destructive ambition is as vast as Gaiabound's
>He encounters his old friends, all working in their own ways to improve the world but all opposed to his own methods. The war escalates, and lines are drawn up among both factions and those caught in-between.
>As Kuzey commits greater and greater crimes for the sake of his mission, he must ask himself is extremism is truly the right response to extremism.
>>
>>15857196
I also forgot to mention Kuzey at about the midway point of the series gets a psychic loli copilot sidekick that was living on one of the derelict space stations and winds up as a symbolic focal point of the opposing philosophies of the show; Melissa projects onto her as a perfect human that lived in solitude away from other humans and became better through that isolation; Gaiabound sees an inhuman monster born of the malevolence of space, proving humans become inhuman by leaving Earth; Kuzey sees an innocent untouched by war being perverted by the ideals of both sides as well as his own, and so on.

Kind of lame that the terrorist doesn't kill Autist the normal way and get in the cockpit himself. Not satisfied.

It's lame, but it's more realistic. And even if a terrorist was in the right state of mind, they wouldn't bother trying to move a rusty outdated prototype war machine.

So, basically...G Gundam?

Ride hunting down Gjallarhorn members, Mellowlink style.
Gundams are symbols of Gjallarhorn and portrayed as the cursed weapons that ruined everything. The entire series is Ride and his crew using squad tactics, traps, trickery, ambushes, and ewok log traps to disable mobile suits and force the pilots to open their cockpits and/or surrender, whereupon they are shot in the face with Mika's pistol.

The mobilesuit is in possession of a teenaged boy, but it must be taken back by the protagonist who is an experienced spy.

The story takes place from the perspective of the adult enemy character, not the child. It is told in such a way that the child's wanton incompetence and unwillingness to make the right choice costs lives.

*WARNING GUNDAMS ARE SENTIENT IN THIS*
Episode 1 starts off with a high speed chase through the galaxy. Antagonist group of sentient MS are chasing the surviving MS of a recently destroyed planet. Protag MS (Gundams) decide the only way to stop the antagonist MS is to crash them into a nearby planet along with themselves.
Episode cuts to a young boy and his family having a party outside. Boy is staring up at the night sky and having inner monologue. His dad walks over and asks what he's doing. As his father looks up he notices light dashing across the night sky. MS's crash themselves into the town moments later. Family looks out and sees cloud racing for them. Debris fly everywhere, camera shakes and black screens.

Flash forward 15 years later. We meet back up with the young boy. He is now 20 and has a oddly shaped scar on his forearm. His hometown was completely obliterated. Family was killed and he was dug up from a pile of rubble. At the age of 18 he enlisted into the military. He is a low rank grunt. We follow the MC as he is assigned to comb over the impact zone. A regular occurrence done 3 times a week. He's not sure why he's asked to do this but knows his superiors are keeping something from them.
We learn the military seized a few on the fallen MS and have made inferior MS's via reverse engineering. The nation has used this newfound technology to prop themselves up as a more powerful/dangerous nation. MC notices some other grunts wondering off and decides to follow them. He loses sight of the other grunts when suddenly he's put in a hold. "Hey loser why are you following us?" Grunt knees MC in the gut. MCs glasses fall off. Grunt picks up glasses and chucks them a good distance away. MC goes in search of glasses. MC stumbles upon opening in the ground. "Could they have fallen in there?" MC jumps into hole. He starts feeling strange. It's extremely dark but he notices the walls seem to be waving. The scar on his forearm starts to burn. "UUAAAAAAH!!!"

You'll have to bear with me, anon. My knowledge of Gundam doesn't go much past 0083.

I also realised last night this pitch is actually pretty similar to Detonator Orgun in some regards. At this point I think I might work on the idea, try and make it a little more original, and maybe make it my own "thing". At least do a few drawings based on it.

The "Not-Zeon" of the show attack a colony. A 70 years old grandma, who used to pilot construction suits, jump into the cockpit of the new experimental mobile suit (our Gundam) after it fell for a transport, with the intention of saving her grandchildren.

Despise been able to wipe out a good portion of the enemy squad, she fails.

The Gundam computer system have locked her as the pilot (Yes is one of those). With no other immediate options, the commander of the "not-White-Base" ask the Grandma to pilot the powerful suit until they reach the development base on earth where it can be reseted. She accept wanting vengeance.
