The Sazabi's cockpit is in the head, not the chest. A beam rifle or even a beam spray gun could almost certainly penetrate through the chest to the head, but it'd be more difficult simply because his target is obscured by the unit's chest. The Sazabi's gun also has less room to travel in order to fire off a kill shot so I really doubt that GM pilot is walking away from that with a win.
